A mum was left confused when she was judged by other mum's at her daughters playgroup for asking for a particular drink she thought was harmless.

Mum Yvette claimed she was "mum shamed" for simply asking for a coffee at a playgroup meeting, as other mums grilled her over her drink choice. The Aussie mum then shared her ordeal online, as she explained how welcoming the other mums were to her as it was her first time back at the playgroup since having her son, until she shared she needed a little caffeine boost and ordered a coffee much to their horror.

She explained in a TikTok video: "I got mum-shamed today. I went to a playgroup today, which I haven't been to since I had my son. I just took my daughter today and people were asking 'how did it go' etcetera and everyone was super lovely and welcoming, you know, very kind.

"I mentioned I really wanted a coffee and one woman there in particular was like 'ah, so you're not breastfeeding?'. I was like 'I am breastfeeding'," and the concerned mother then asked: "You're having decaf right?" To which Yvette responded: "I'm not having decaf, I'm having proper coffee'."

Yvette then shared that the same mum continually questioned her over her coffee choice and was concerned over the effect it would have on her daughter. She continued: "She was so concerned by me having a coffee and was like, 'doesn't that affect your babies' sleep and stuff like that?'. I haven't noticed," and further questioned her and said: "She was like, 'you're having a really weak one right?'. She was really concerned about me having a coffee."

The mum then shared how she was "shocked" by the mums' interrogation over her coffee order, and said she would have told the mum to "p***s off" if she'd have realised at the start what she was doing and concluded: "Anyway, I had my coffee and she's an absolute k**b." Later reflecting on the whole ordeal, Yvette further explained: "I think pushing it with multiple questions and suggestions was the issue," as she realised why she became so irate with the interfering mother at the playgroup.

Other mums flocked to the comments to chime in with their own thoughts, as one mum jibed: "This is why I don't do mum groups," while another commented: "People need to understand that our livers metabolise the caffeine and then babies own liver metabolises the caffeine so by the time the baby actually."

A third penned: "I am pregnant and when I tell people I am having a coffee, the number one comment is like decaf right? I am like nope I need caffeine to survive."
