Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi hinted at leaving the long-running soap after she posted a video about "missing this place."

The actress, 40, is known for her role as Leyla Harding in Emmerdale. She made her first appearance in 2008 and stayed until 2011. She had a brief comeback in 2013 before making a permanent return in 2014. She was even nominated for the Best Soap Actress award at the TV Choice Awards.

Roxy recently confirmed she's trying her hand at figure skating as she joined Dancing On Ice. The star has been busy rehearsing for the first show, which is airing this weekend. When she had a break from rehearsals, Roxy took a trip to ITV studios and shared a clip with her Instagram followers.

In the video, she filmed herself walking before panning up to the ITV studio building. She captioned the post: "Just popped to Emmerdale. Missing this place."

In early October, Roxy was announced as part of the Dancing On Ice line-up. She appeared on Steph's Packed Lunch and said: "I’m an actor hiding behind a character - that's where I'm most comfortable. Being yourself out there on the ice with no character to hide behind is really scary for me. I’d say that’s the scariest element for me."

A few months later, she revealed why she wanted to join the show. She said: "I just wanted a new kitchen." She added: "In all seriousness, it's an adventure. I've been in Emmerdale for so long and I absolutely love it but I think it's good for your mind to do something different and it feels like a little adventure.

"I was more excited about it before I actually signed my contract then I just became incredibly scared because I realised how dangerous is it. As soon as you get on the ice and you start to learn you realise how little you know and how hard it's going to be. Now I'm starting to skate independently, there's a new lease of life and a little bit of excitement bubbling up now."y

She explained how the Emmerdale team has been understanding as she juggled being on set, Dancing On Ice training as well as raising her five-year-old daughter.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Holly Willoughby will be returning as one of the presenters of the popular competition. She used to host with Phillip Schofield, who quit ITV last year after his affair came to light. Holly will now be presenting with Stephen Mulhern.
