BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty takes swipe at co-star Matt Taylor

Naga Munchetty left her co-star somewhat confused after taking a cheeky swipe at him.

The BBC Breakfast broadcaster, 48, appeared alongside co-anchor Charlie Stayt on the early morning show, during which weather reporter Matt Taylor shared an insight into the coming days. But Matt's suit soon became the topic of conversation with Naga pointing out its "old" style.

Naga is known for her jokes and quips towards her co-stars and her latest was no different. During the programme, both she and Charlie watched a video about humpback whales before she turned her attention to Matt and his decision to wear dark colours.

"It is a remarkable picture when you get to see it," she said before adding: "What year are we in? 2024 let's take a step back 70 years with Matt, hello!" Matt was left confused by Naga's comment as he asked: "What are you saying?" She later replied: "Well you are in kind of grey and dark old colours."

After rapidly discovering what Naga meant, he responded: "I am a little bit, a little bit monochrome today." Naga later commented: "Well there is going to be a history lesson with you today isn't there." A clearly excited Matt went on to say: "There will be. In about half an hours time the first ever on-air weather forecast!"

Keeping in theme with her running joke, the golfing fanatic went on to say: "What was it like? How did it feel?" But Matt was keen to continue the running joke as he quipped: "It was scary, I know. I don't look a day over 69, do I?" But it wasn't just meteorologist Matt who was at the helm of Naga's jokes.

Later in the programme, she took aim at Charlie and stated that he could have a new career in used car sales. Shortly after the pair were flicking through the day's newspapers, Charlie spotted a story which enticed him. "So, used car news is what I have got for you. It is a car that has just come on the market which has on the plus side, it has only got 255 miles on the clock. It is three years old so it is barely used and it is a good buy for someone, it has only had one owner."

"I never thought of you as a used car salesman but I am seeing it now," she said before Charlie rapidly tried to move the conversation on, saying: "Well it is working so far but there is a clanger coming up. This isn't going to work as a used car thing, it is a Bugatti supersport 300+, why is it called 300+ you ask? Someone ask the question."

While Naga was confused by Charlie's statement, she asked: "Well it is the only car on the road that can do 300 miles an hour and it is going to auction, and they reckon it is going to be 4.3 million."

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One and Player.
