Brain teasers are a fantastic way to train your brain, and the more you complete, the better you get at them - so why not test your skills out on this tricky maths brainteaser?

Maths may bring back unwelcome memories of sitting in the classroom when you were younger, not having a clue what was going on. But for those people who are good at it, and confident in their skills, this brainteaser may be the one for them. The catch is, you've got just 12 seconds to answer it. Do you think that you've got what it takes to figure it out?

So, can you work out what number six is worth?

  • 1 = 3
  • 2 = 3
  • 3 = 5
  • 4 = 4
  • 5 = 4
  • 6 = ?

It's seriously complicated, as it doesn't seem to make any sense. If 3 is worth 5, how can 4 suddenly be worth 4, and 5 also be worth 4? It's so challenging and has left many people scratching their heads.

At first, there doesn't seem to be a logical answer, but once you're faced with the actual answer, you'll be kicking yourself, according to the Tab, and wondering how you didn't manage to get it the first time around.

Have you managed to work it out? If not, look away, because the answer is coming up - but did you manage to answer it in 12 seconds?

The sequence follows a pattern of how many letters are spelled out in each number, which means that the number six is actually worth three. So, altogether, it looks like this:

  • 1 (One) = 3
  • 2 (Two) = 3
  • 3 (Three) = 5
  • 4 (Four) = 4
  • 5 (Five) = 4
  • 6 (Six) = 3

Did you manage to get the answer? If so, give yourself a pat on the back. Fancy trying out some more brainteasers? Well, you have a 'highly intelligent mind' if you can work out the next number in the baffling maths sequence, and you're a 'really smart person' if you can work out how to boil an egg in this baffling riddle.
