The Traitors viewers were baffled over the show's decision to cut the banishment short in the latest episode, despite an obvious result.

The latest episode of the hit BBC series brought all the drama, with a banishment, a dungeon twist and then another heated round table. But as another contestant found herself banished from the game, the episode came to an end at a rather odd moment.

Host Claudia Winkleman had just welcomed a player to the head of the table, to declare whether they were a Traitor or a Faithful. Just hours after escaping the previous banishment, Ash's long day in the castle dungeon ended worse than she had imagined.

She once again found herself being accused of being a Traitor, with her battling to survive the game. It didn't help that two of her fellow Traitors Harry and Paul had voted against her last time around, and while they claimed their reasons for doing so she thought they'd solved any issues.

But when it got back to the round table the next evening, Paul and Harry once again threw her under the bus and helped convince several others to accuse Ash. In fact, 13 of her co-stars voted to banish her as the Traitor after Harry and Paul raised concerns about her behaviour.

As the votes came in, it was obvious Ash was going home and she stood up to join Claudia. Asked for whether she was a Faithful or a Traitor, she told them: "I wanna say I think you're an absolutely magnificent group of people.

"I don't think I have belly laughed so much in a while. It's been an honour and a privilege." But as she went to say what she was, the episode ended on a cliffhanger, despite viewers already knowing she was a Traitor.

Calling it "pointless" one viewer fumed: "It’s not really a cliffhanger if the audience knows exactly what’s about to be said." Another agreed: "what’s even the point in leaving it on a cliffhanger if we all know anyways."

A third fan said: "Absolutely pointless cliffhanger ending ffs," as a fourth wrote: "why would they do a cliffhanger like that…we know what she is…" It came after another Faithful was eliminated from the series at the start of the episode, with Ash narrowly missing out on being banished. Brian was the latest contestant to be eliminated from the game, as his fellow co-stars banished him from the castle grounds.

After a number of names came under the spotlight as possibly being a Traitor, it was Brian who was ditched from the show. Of course as host Claudia Winkleman asked him to state whether he was a Faithful or a Traitor, the audience at home already new the answer to that.

But the table of Faithfuls did not know who they had voted out, while the Traitors safe from the vote knew exactly what was going to happen. Brian quickly announced he was in fact a Faithful sparking chaos across the table.

As the chosen evictee left the room for good, it dawned on those still in the game that they'd lost another Faithful and the Traitors were ahead of them. This round table also saw Paul and Harry throw Ash under the bus for the first time, which led to a confrontation later in the evening.
