Shoppers stack discounts to beat the cold snap with heaters from £1.15
With great swathes of the UK currently enduring cold weather and the Met Office warning low temperatures will continue into next week, just in time for the energy price cap to increase for 2024, more of us than ever are trying to find ways to keep warm without turning on the heating.
Money saving expert Martin Lewis has long-since advised people to 'heat the person not the house,' resulting in items like Oodie- style hooded blankets, cosy heated throws and even USB-charged heated gilets becoming staples for people trying to stay warm while working from home without having to turn the heating on unnecessarily.
But for times when even the fluffiest accessory just isn't warm enough, a portable heater can be a quick and relatively cost-effective way to take the chill off a single occupied room. Just in time for the January sales, Amazon, Dunelm, and Currys have all reduced prices on some of their best-selling heaters, with John Lewis even slashing up to £150 off high-end Dyson heaters in the sale.
But savvy shoppers looking for more budget options have found a way to stack several different discounts to pick up one of a choice of several well-reviewed portable heaters discounted by Argos in their sale for less than the price of a cup of coffee.
Taking advantage of discounts and cashback, bargain hunters can get a Challenge 2KW upright fan heater for £1.15 or a slightly higher spec black ceramic version for £4.95 after discounts and cashback.

The Challenge 2KW upright fan heater in white has already been reduced in the Argos sale to £17 and has an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 out of 1,220 reviews. 91% of customers who bought the two-speed heater would recommend it to others, with reviews praising it for its compact design and how efficient it is despite its inexpensive price tag.
One five-star reviewer described it as 'small but mighty,' adding: "I love this portable heater. It heats up my room quick and the size saves space in my small flat. Highly recommended."
A second commented: "I purchased this heater to heat a small living room to take the chill off first thing. This heater is very efficient and warmed the room in minutes. Great value for money."
However some shoppers flag that it can be noisy, with one saying: "It warms the room quickly, but can be quite noisy."
The higher spec black ceramic version has three different heat settings and a safety cut out switch and is currently reduced to £21 in the sale, which works out at £4.95 after discounts and cashback. It has an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 854 reviews, with 92% of owners recommending it.
One happy customer described it as 'quick to heat, easy to use and economical," adding: "Great buy. Really heats up small rooms quickly. It is noisy so wouldn't want it on all the time but takes the chill of the rooms within minutes and is easy and safe to move from room to room."
Both fans come with a cool air function which means they can also be used to combat high temperatures in the summer.
While the sale prices already make the heaters some of the best value on the market currently, to take advantage of the stacked deals and make the full saving, shoppers have to sign up as a new member to deals site TopCashback.
