Music legend Vince Clarke's wife Tracy Hurley Martin has died at the age of 53.

Depeche Mode and Erasure star Vince, 63, is yet to publicly comment on his spouse's passing, but Erasure co-founder Andy Bell announced the sad news on social media earlier today.

Tracy, who acted as a publicist for stars like Prince and George Michael, is survived by her husband, son, niece and her identical twin sister, author and screenwriter Tonya Hurley.

Announcing Tracy's death, Andy wrote: "There are no words. My heart, my soul, and all of my love goes to Vincent and Oscar, Tonya, Michael and Isabelle and all of Tracy's family and friends. May God bless our precious Tracy."

American born Tracy lived in New York with British synth legend Vince, 63, prior to her death, alongside their 18-year-old son Oscar. It's thought Tracy had been suffering from ill health for several years, with Vince opening up about his wife's battles in an interview last year.

"Something like this does affect everything that you do, you know. It does affect your life. And I think it's affected the way that I listen to, and look to, music," he admitted to The Quietus. "Doing this kind of music in particular is very therapeutic. It’s helped me to switch off all of the other stuff and just think about sounds.Even though it’s not even me that is going through something directly. You know, I'm just a carer."

It's reported Tracy, who was a filmmaker, publicist and museum curator, died from stomach cancer. The multi-talented star often spoke about her health on social media, including posts about undergoing a hysterectomy and being diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer in 2022.

Writing to her fans in February 2022, Tracy thanked her loved one for their support. "I’m not only thankful for the treatment but for the around the clock care and unwavering support my husband and sister have provided me," the late star penned online. "I tear up just writing how much I love them both.I have reached a depth of love for all of you that I had no idea existed."

Just a few weeks ago, on Boxing Day, Tracy poignantly addressed her health and seemingly questioned how long she had left to live as she retweeted a post on Twitter (X) which reads: "When you have incurable cancer the words Last Christmas take on a totally different meaning."

As Tracy's death was confirmed, fans paid tribute to the late mum-of-one on social media. "Tracy was the reason I got to meet my music heroes, Vince and Andy, before a gig. I’ll never forget her kindness," one wrote on Twitter (X) as they remembered Tracy. Another penned: "Such a tragic loss. My thoughts are with Vince, her son, the rest of their family, and friends. My prayers are with them all during this difficult time."
