Lizzie Cundy has been left shaken after thieves attempted to gain access to her home.

The star took to Instagram to share that she had been out for dinner with a close friend and was relaxing at home when she heard a loud bang. Lizzie, 55, was fortunate enough that a local farmer had been passing her home in Hampshire and alarmed the two alleged perpetrators who ran off, after crashing into her fence.

Model and presenter Lizzie who frequently appears on GB News and TalkTV shared her terror as she explained she was feeling "blessed" that she was unharmed in the incident. She has since been inundated with support from friends and fans who couldn't believe the news.

In view of her 77,500 followers, the socialite penned: "So this happened last night. After a lovely dinner with a friend, I was taking a bath and heard a huge bang and noise downstairs. Someone sounded like they were trying to get in my house... Luckily a passing farmer saw someone lurking around and thought it was suspicious and called the police immediately.

"Thankfully the police came around in minutes to my home but the 2 men drove off into my fence with such speed they overturned their car as you can see from the photo above. They then ran off into the night and the police couldn't catch them.

"I just want to say a huge thank you to Hampshire Police who came over so quickly and stayed with me. The police were amazing. This is happening way too often, especially in rural areas. We all need to look after each other. Thankfully someone did for me. If anyone knows anything please contact Hampshire Police. I'm feeling very blessed today I wasn't hurt or anyone else, keep safe."

Jamie Redknapp's wife Frida, was one of the first to offer support to Lizzie. She responded saying: "I'm so so sorry to hear this. Sensing my love." A second person saying: "OMG!!!! This is awful and should not happen! Thank goodness your local police responded so fast! Let’s speak soon now that you are back!"

Another replied: "My goodness, how scary, I am glad you are ok. Bravo Hampshire, my old county where I grew up!" Radio host Pandora Christie penned: "Nooooo!!! Babe this is awful sorry you had to experience that... Glad you are ok sending my love," alongside three heart emojis.

A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary told the Mirror: "We were called at 10.14pm last night (9 January) to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Upton Grey. It was reported that the occupants of a blue Honda CR-V were shining a lamp around fields in rural areas. The vehicle later collided with a fence and it was reported that the occupants fled on foot.

"Officers attended the scene and have launched an investigation. The vehicle has been recovered and seized for examination. Today (10 January), we received a report that moments after the incident, oil was taken from a property where the crash occurred. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting 44240012728."
