Pete Davidson was high on ketamine while attending Aretha Franklin’s funeral
Pete Davidson has revealed that he was high at Aretha Franklin's funeral, with him admitting that he feels "embarrassed" by attending her send-off while on ketamine.
In his hour-long comedic stand-up special for Netflix, which is titled Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli, Pete puts on a spectacularly funny show for his fans. And amid his on-the-mark jokes, Pete recalled how he attended Aretha Franklin's funeral.
Pete attended the soul legend's send-off at Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple in 2018, with him attending as the plus-one of his then-fiancée Ariana Grande, who performed a song at the emotional service. And within his new comedy special, which dropped onto Netflix this week, Pete reveals that while in attendance at the funeral, he was high on ketamine.

Pete Davidson looks very different with newly shaved head after loved-up getaway"I was at funerals like that. That’s f**ked up, right? I was at Aretha Franklin’s funeral like that. Yeah, I have to live with that. You know what I mean? She’ll never know, but still, that’s not the point. You know what I mean?"
He went on: "If she was there, she would probably be like, ‘Hey, who are you? And what the f**k are you doing at my funeral?’ It’s embarrassing. I’m so high, I thought it would be a good idea to go up to her family and go, ‘Hey, I’m just here to pay my R-E-S-P-E-C-T…S."
This comes a few months after it was reported that the Saturday Night Live comedian was "living in the woods" after shunning New York City following a rehab stint, with him reportedly eyeing up a "reclusive new life".
According to The U.S. Sun at the time, Pete was living far away from NYC after a tumultuous few months in the spotlight. Last year, Pete voluntarily checked into a mental health facility to receive treatment for his previously diagnosed borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Shortly after checking into rehab, his relationship with Chase Sui Wonders broke down. He then began dating Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline, 25, and the pair were spotted enjoying breakfast together after spending the night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
