The Met Office has said two regions in England could see snow today as told Brits are expecting more "sleet and snow showers" as temperatures continue to plummet.

Forecasters revealed there is a risk of wintry showers in the South West this morning and said the warning potentially extends to the North East. In the North people will likely see lighter rain on Wednesday, which could transform to snow over high ground. However, they also said there will be "largely sunny skies and small amounts of cloud", despite the snow announcement.

BBC Weather's Stav Danaos predicts light rain, sleet and snow over hills in north-east England, while south-east England could see wintry showers and "a light dusting of snow", even in lower areas. The Met Office warns of "a mix of sleet and snow showers" from the east, with temperatures near zero and icy patches likely on untreated surfaces.

The Met Office has warned of travel disruption following its latest warning about ice. They say on their website: "An isolated snow flurry is possible this evening but thereafter a dry night with clear periods. Rather breezy and feeling very cold with a widespread frost developing. Some ice developing in places, especially where any snow flurries occur."

It comes as the Environment Agency (EA) said 126 flood warnings remain in England where flooding is expected, including a flood warning on the River Thames southwest of London in Wraysbury, reports Birmingham Live. The EA says flooding of property and roads was expected around Friary Road, The Embankment, Ousley Road and Riverside areas. The majority of flood warnings are in the south of England and the Midlands, particularly through Reading, Slough, Oxford, Salisbury and further north in Cheltenham and Peterborough. There are also 136 flood alerts in place throughout the same areas where flooding is possible.
