Two Tottenham transfers put at risk as Bayern Munich eye £26m defender move
Tottenham's hopes of selling Eric Dier and signing Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin hang in the balance thanks to Bayern Munich's new-found interest in the latter.
Spurs want to sell long-serving defender Dier, 29, to Bayern this month, as manager Ange Postecoglou doesn't fancy the England international. Postecoglou hopes to replace Dier with Romania's Dragusin, 21, who is one of the most exciting defenders in Serie A.
Genoa want Tottenham to pay €25million (£21.5m) up front for Dragusin, with €5m (£4.3m) more in add-ons. His arrival doesn't depend on Dier's exit, but the latter's hopes of joining Bayern will be dashed if the Bundesliga side make a beeline for Dragusin instead.
According to the Evening Standard, that could happen. It's claimed Bayern have opened talks with Genoa over a deal for Dragusin, although they haven't agreed anything yet. The player is said to be interested in joining both Tottenham and Bayern.
That puts Spurs in a tricky position. If Postecoglou signs Dragusin, Bayern will still need to buy a centre-back this month and may opt for Dier. But if Bayern sign Dragusin, Dier will remain at Spurs to enforce a double transfer blow on Postecoglou's side.
Marcel Sabitzer completes Man Utd transfer after last-minute deadline day dashThe good news for Tottenham fans is rumours suggest they are close to finalising a deal with Genoa. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs right-back Djed Spence will join Geona on loan as part of the transfer after his time at Leeds was cut short. Dier has also agreed personal terms with Bayern over a switch and is just waiting for the Germans to confirm the deal, which would reunite him with former team-mate Harry Kane.

Tottenham are also interested in Jean-Clair Todibo, but Nice are determined to hold on to the 24-year-old defender until the summer. Spurs need a new centre-back due to their injury crisis, with Cristian Romero and Ben Davies currently nursing hamstring injuries. Micky van de Ven is just coming back from a hamstring injury of his own.
Dier has featured in just four Premier League games this season. He was left out of Tottenham's squad for their recent 1-0 FA Cup win against Burnley due to injury, which led to a fiery exchange between Postecoglou and a reporter during a press conference.
When asked about the Bayern links, Postecoglou said: "It's a separate issue mate, but don't question my integrity. When I say he's injured, he's injured. He didn't train yesterday... ask him. But he was injured. It's got nothing to do with anything else."
Postecoglou added: "I've got no idea. When you ask me whether he's injured, he's injured. I didn't make that up. If he wasn't injured I'd say he wasn't selected. It's easy for me to say. He's injured and in terms of anything else that's happening, not on my radar."
