Moment brazen thug steals mum's birthday present Ford Fiesta from outside home
CCTV caught a brazen thug stealing a mum’s birthday present Ford Fiesta from right outside her front door.
The unnamed mum lives in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, and works in the city as a tailor. She had been asleep at the time when the car was nicked. As a treat, she had bought herself the 65 plate Fiesta for her birthday, just for it to be stolen from right outside her family home.
Shocking footage shows the thug stealing the car. The man is captured kneeling down by the driver's side of the car, when the brake lights come on. He then appears to walk away, before opening the boot and climbing into the vehicle.
After diving into the vehicle, and reaching back to shut the boot behind them, the lights in the car flick off, and for around two minutes the vehicle remains stationary before they come back on and it begins moving. First the car drives forward onto the pavement.
Then it begins reversing backwards, before they are able to drive off. The family tried to track down the car, but had no luck. West Midlands Police are now hunting for the crooks and have launched a probe after the incident late on Friday 5 January.

The mum's son, who wished to stay anonymous, said the family had already taken precautions to prevent theft, including storing the car keys in a signal-blocking Faraday pouch. However, these moves didn't prevent the thief from getting into the car via the boot - and now they want to warn others to be vigilant.
The son, a lifelong Balsall Heath resident, told BirminghamLive: "I had a look out the window and the car wasn't there, we played back the CCTV and we noticed the car had gone, we called the police, there's no sign of the car or anything. She uses it to get about and do her daily business, not only that she's gone really upset and quiet, she's been upset by it. Mum bought it for her birthday present last year, it hasn't even been a year, and it's been pinched outside."
The brazen thug stole the car from outside the family's home (Supplied/Birmingham Live)The son added: "A few days ago another vehicle got stolen from the area, we've skirted the whole area, gone from Balsall Heath to Sparkhill, there's no sign of the car. My mother was asleep, my sister was in her bedroom and noticed it, she said she heard some sort of noise but looked out and noticed the car wasn't there.
"We even had a Faraday security bag, we took precautions to protect it, we had that magnetic pouch, and even then it was taken. People need to be more vigilant, even buying a steering lock. We are annoyed, we pay our taxes, and people are going around pinching people's cars. God forbid what if there was something in the car, how would we get it?"
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are investigating after a Ford Fiesta was stolen from a property on Edgbaston Road, Balsall Heath, last Friday between 10.20pm and 11.50pm.
