Mr Bates vs The Post Office's characters from Harry Potter stars to soap legends
ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office has been a huge hit with viewers and has an all-star cast.
The four-part series documents one of Britain's greatest miscarriages of justice following mysterious financial losses appearing in Post Office tills across the country. Hundreds of sub-postmasters and postmistresses were wrongly prosecuted between 1999 and 2015 for theft, false accounting, and/or fraud.
It came after a new computer software called Horizon was installed. Alan Bates - played by Toby Jones - and five others took the Post Office to the High Court in a Group Litigation Order covering 555 claimants. The series has shone a light on the scandal once more as over a million people have now signed a petition demanding ex-Post Office boss Paula Vennells be stripped of her CBE. Alan Jones and Suzanne Sercombe were played by Toby Jones and Julie HesmondhalghAlan Jones
The Welsh sub-postmaster is played by Toby Jones and was wrongly accused of fraud. He became an activist for other sub-postmasters and campaigned to achieve justice for all of his colleagues against the Post Office. Toby has starred in many films and TV shows over the years including Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Captain America, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, BBC comedy Detectorists and ITV true crime drama The Long Shadow. Notably, the actor voiced the character Dobby throughout the Harry Potter film series.
Suzanne Sercombe
Alan Jones' wife joined him throughout the campaign for justice. She is played by Julie Hesmondhalgh, who is famed for her role as Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street from 1998 to 2014. The actress has also starred in BBC drama The Pact and ITV series Broadchurch.

Angela van den Bogerd
Angela van den Bogerd was the Post Office directorThe Post Office director worked closely with CEO Paula Vennells throughout the series. Angela is portrayed by Katherine Kelly, known for Coronation Street, Innocent, The Long Shadow and Mr Selfridge.
Jo Hamilton
Jo Hamilton was taken to court and accused of theft (ITV)Monica Dolan played the Hampshire based sub-postmistress in the series. She was wrongly accused of theft and taken to court by her employer. Monica has made TV appearances in Black Mirror, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe and Appropriate Adult.

Sub-postmaster Lee was taken to court and supported by his wife LisaYorkshire sub-postermaster Lee was taken to court by the Post Office for missing frauds. He is played by Will Mellor, who is known for Hollyoaks, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Coronation Street. Lee's wife Lisa Castleton is portrayed by Amy Nuttall who is famed for her role as Chloe Atkinson in Emmerdale from 2000 to 2005. She also starred in Downton Abbey as Ethel Parks.

Saman's mental health suffered because of the scandal
Character Noel Thomas was sent to prisonSaman is a sub-postmistress who was accused of stealing from her employer. Her mental health suffered as a result, and she was joined by her husband Jasgun to campaign for justice. Krupa Pattani portrays Saman, who has also acted in Hollyoaks as Farrah Maalik and Citizen Khan. Actor Amit Shah is famed for Happy Valley, in which he played pharmacist Faisal Bhatti.
Noel Thomas
Ifan Huw Dafydd plays sub-postmaster Noel, who was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. The actor has starred in Gavin & Stacey, The Indian Doctor, Welsh drama Alys and Holby City.
Michael Rudkin

Paula Vennells
