I'm a Celeb winner Sam Thompson breaks silence on new This Morning job

I’m A Celebrity winner Sam Thompson has spoken of his delight after landing his “pinch-me moment” job on This Morning.

The Mirror revealed last month how ITV bosses were lining him up for a gig on the hit daytime show. He is now a fully fledged member of the team after becoming one of their roving reporters, and hosting his own section. Sam, 31, will be reunited with jungle campmate Josie Gibson, 38, who he bonded with in the Australian outback.

He told the Mirror: “I’ve always been a huge fan of This Morning and the energy and joy the show brings, but talking to Josie about how much she loves being part of the This Morning family in the jungle made me want to join the team even more.

He added: “From being a guest on the show in December to now officially being announced as part of team This Morning... it’s a real pinch-me moment. I can’t wait to get started, nothing beats the excitement of live TV!”

This Morning will be going “on the road” during today’s show with Sam being set the challenge of assembling a “TM Task Force” to solve dilemmas for its Mancunian viewers.

He will be in charge of taking a mix of This Morning experts including Alice Beer and Lisa Snowdon with him to Manchester’s Arndale Shopping Centre to help viewers with their concerns. A source close to This Morning said: “Josie started on the show as a roving reporter and look at her now, this could be the start of something special for Sam, whose popularity is huge.

“There’s already talk about what he might be doing next on the show now he’s part of the ITV family.”

■This Morning airs from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
