The Traitors fans left speechless after star appears on First Dates
Fans of The Traitors were caught by surprise this week after a contestant from series one appeared on First Dates.
Aaron Evans became popular with BBC viewers as he took part in the Claudia Winkleman-fronted show in 2022. The 25-year-old went on to win alongside fellow Faithfuls, Hannah Byczkowski and Meryl Williams.
Despite his success, however, the property developer clearly still hasn't found love and has sought help from Fred Sirieix and co on Channel 4. After watching a preview clip of series 21 earlier this week, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their shock at seeing the familiar face.
One user hailed: "Catching up on #FirstDates and Aaron from The Traitors popped up in the series preview!" Another asked: "Aaron from The Traitors on First Dates?!" A third also pondered: "Is that Aaron from The Traitors in the trailer?" And a fourth gushed: "Jealous of whoever is on a date with him."
Aaron previously opened up on the prospect of more television appearances in a Q&A session with fans on his YouTube channel. "So I actually have already [filmed a show], I've gone on First Dates and I've also gone on Mastermind," he explained. "However I don't know when they are going to be posted."
Escape to the Chateau's Dick and Angel give exciting news as fans beg for returnHe also admitted how Traitors contestants are "subsidised", explaining they receive a similar amount to the day jobs they have forfeited. "It’s roughly like £100 a day," he said. "It’s not that much, but it's definitely worth it."
Opening up on First Dates, meanwhile, I'm A Celebrity star Fred said matchmaking should prove easier in the new series, owing to its beautiful new restaurant in Bath and the Somerset city’s vibe. "It’s amazing," he confessed. "Bath is so beautiful and has good energy. It’s such a historical city, what I like is the old stone, dating back to Roman times. And also it’s very serene, very peaceful, very calm. People walk in the street and you can hear them talk. It’s not the noise of buses and ambulances and police, like in London. It’s much quieter."
The new restaurant is The Botanist, which sits inside the Grade II listed Octagon Chapel, built in the 1760s and known to have been visited by romantic author Jane Austen. Speaking during filming, Fred told The Mirror: "I can’t tell you how incredible it is. I’ve really loved it. On one day last week we had 80% of yeses, which is an insane percentage even for us."
He said the success rate left him, barman Merlin Griffiths and waitress Cici Coleman extraordinarily happy. Fred added: "We were so excited that day. It’s like we were all high from taking the love drug or something. I mean it was Merlin, me, Cici, the whole production team! There was something in the air."
