Married couple found dead in their home as police launch investigation
The deaths of a couple who were discovered lifeless in a home on Friday are both being treated as unexplained.
Neil and Alison McLaughlin, who had recently become grandparents, were found deceased at the property in Greenock, Inverclyde, at around 5.05pm.
Friends and family have paid tribute to Neil, 57, and Alison, 53, describing the pair as a "lovely couple". Police Scotland says enquiries into the deaths remain ongoing.
One woman posted on social media: "Thinking of their family, and wee daughter and granddaughter. You will both be missed by everyone who knew you. Lovely couple." Another said: said: This is just heart-breaking. My thoughts are with their young daughter and all the family."
Daily Record reports police do not believe there is a risk to the wider public. Members of the public with any information, though, are urged to talk to police.

One of Alison's former colleagues said on Facebook: "I can't believe it. Alison was the first lady I told I was pregnant when I worked with her. She was the kindest, sweetest soul you would ever meet. May they rest in peace."
Detective Inspector Gordon Smith, of Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Neil and Alison. We are providing their families with specialist support at this incredibly difficult time. They have asked for privacy.
“The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. At this time we have no information to suggest anyone else is involved in connection with the deaths and there is no risk to the wider public.
“A police presence will remain in the area while our investigation continues and anyone with concerns should speak to officers. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
