The Masked Singer UK's Chicken Caesar unmasked as huge TV star and comedian
The Masked Singer UK has axed its next contestant with Chicken Caesar unmasked as Alexander Armstrong on the ITV series.
The show returned last Saturday night, with panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan trying to work out the identity of six new characters, with guest Charlie Simpson, although Rita Ora was back for this weekend. Confirmed for the latest lineup on Saturday night were Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Owl, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar and Piranha.
During the latest episode, Chicken Caesar went against Piranha but sadly missed out on a remaining spot on the show. After being in the bottom with Bubble Tea and Owl, the judges picked Chicken Caesar to be unmasked.
Viewers were convinced Chicken Caesar, who had a Geordie accent, was Chris Ramsey but it turned out to be Alexander, 53. The TV star and comedian is known for the likes of Pointless, Armstrong and Miller and Classic FM.
Talking about taking part in the show, Alexander said: "I’ve been longing to do it, every year I’m always getting messages saying are you so and so? Are you Traffic Cone? And I say maybe! I’ve loved it, it's the beginning of the journey and the end of the journey but what a journey it's been!"
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesExplaining the slew of clues on the show, it was revealed the BRIT Award was actually the Classic BRIT Awards, which Alexander hosted. Other clues included: "I'm a great Roman Explorer", which was a nod to presenting the documentary Rome's Invisible City.
Elsewhere, "LXX is 70 in Roman numerals, a reference to Alexander's year of birth 1970", "Chicken Caesar's accent was a nod to Alexander being born in the North East" and "history and friend in the city, hinted to starring in Horrible Histories: The Movie with Kim Cattrall".
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to share their shock as one person said: "Omg Alexander Armstrong!!! Me and my sister guess him every year and this is the first year we didn't", a different account put: "Would never have gotten Alexander Armstrong!" while another added: "OMG! Alexander Armstrong?! The Pointless host?! #MaskedSingerUK."
Also taking part are Cricket, Weather, Marypole, Bigfoot, Dippy Egg and Rat, who featured on the first episode of the series, where Weather was revealed as Dionne Warwick. Music icon Dionne left the panel starstruck as she unveiled herself as the star under the costume. She then shared her joy at being asked to do the series, but admitted the struggles she faced trying to disguise her voice on the show.
