During the latest episode, Chicken Caesar went against Piranha, before dropping a slew of clues. The judges pointed out the character had a Geordie accent, as well as a clue about Rose. Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers thought Chicken Caesar could be comedian Chris Ramsey, who is married to Rosie Ramsey.

However, in a huge twist, it was revealed that Chicken Caesar was Alexander, 53. The TV star and comedian is known for the likes of Pointless, Armstrong and Miller and Classic FM. Explaining the slew of clues on the show, it was revealed the BRIT Award was actually the Classic BRIT Awards, which Alexander hosted. Other clues included: "I'm a great Roman Explorer", which was a nod to presenting the documentary Rome's Invisible City.

Elsewhere, "LXX is 70 in Roman numerals, a reference to Alexander's year of birth 1970", "Chicken Caesar's accent was a nod to Alexander being born in the North East" and "history and friend in the city, hinted to starring in Horrible Histories: The Movie with Kim Cattrall".

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to share their shock as one person said: "Omg Alexander Armstrong!!! Me and my sister guess him every year and this is the first year we didn't", a different account put: "Would never have gotten Alexander Armstrong!" while another added: "OMG! Alexander Armstrong?! The Pointless host?! #MaskedSingerUK."

It comes as host Joel Dommett couldn’t wait for the show to start and previously said: "Honestly, they are the best costumes ever. If they don’t make you smile, well, get out! Air Fryer is unbelievably silly. It's so liberating to be a part of a show where first of all, people really enjoy it and also from my point of view, any idea I have, it's fair game. Even when it comes to the suits!

"I think we've definitely got some of the best vocalists we've ever had on the show and we've had some really incredible ones in the past. The show goes through an interesting meandering of, we are all here for all the new characters, but then maybe the better singers start to get through in the last rounds, usually the final. Let's be honest, it’s usually really incredible singers left at that point. This year I really do feel like we've got some of the best we've ever had."

Talking about the costumes, Jonathan Ross said: "I love all of them. I really loved Weather. I thought that was a really beautiful, quite romantic, quite poetic-looking costume. I liked Piranha a lot. They're fun, I have to say. Bubble Tea is great. Well, Bubble Tea and Air Fryer make the show very, very modern, don't they? There's a couple of phrases that weren't in common conversation two or three years ago, and now we've got them dancing on primetime ITV1!"
