Molly-Mae Hague under fire for ‘flaunting £9 million wealth’ with £7k bag
Molly-Mae Hague has come under fire for her lavish spending habits.
The 24-year-old reality star shot to fame in 2019 when she was a contestant on ITV’s dating show Love Island - where she fell head over heels for boxing star Tommy Fury. Since they appeared on the show, Molly-Mae and 24-year-old Tommy have gone on to amass a sizeable fortune thanks to their endorsement deals, and highly paid jobs, and their romance has advanced to an engagement and parenthood as last year they welcomed their daughter, Bambi, in January and Tommy proposed in July.
And while the couple are worth a reported £9 million, some fans just can’t help but lash out at the TV star over her wealth. Molly-Mae, Tommy and baby Bambi are currently enjoying a sun-soaked holiday in the Maldives - where they are staying at the luxury The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, and where rooms cost in excess of £3,000 per night.
Molly-Mae has been sharing highlights from her trip - as well as some low points, as she admits there have been torrential downpours on the Indian Ocean islands. But her posts haven’t been met with warm responses from her fans.

She was wearing a simple beach shirt and had a Chanel beach bag draped over her shoulder. But the image sent her fans into a fury as they discovered her bag costs £7,000.

Fans also took issue with the fact she used the caption: “And breathe…” Lashing out at the star, one follower wrote: “Breath! Tough life being a millionaire." And another slammed her, writing: “Why do you show off and brag Chanel bag." And a further bitter fan commented they would prefer if she sported a “bag from the high street” in her photos.
Molly-Mae received widespread criticism in 2021 when fast-fashion brand Pretty Little Thing appointed her Creative Director at the company. She was paid a reported £400,000 a month for the job - but was slammed by fans when she complained that other’s lacked her success as she quipped: “Beyoncé has the same 24 hours in the day that we do and I just think, like, you're given one life and it's up to you what you do with it, you can literally go in any direction.”
She sensationally quit her lucrative job last year, however, so she could focus on being a mum to Bambi - and to focus on her social media and in YouTube videos. Last month, Molly-Mae and Tommy featured on the Daily Mail’s UK Reality TV Couple’s Rich List - placed at number four on the list thanks to their reported £9 million fortune.
