The Crown star Dominic West gave an inside look at his broken friendship with Prince Harry revealing that they are no longer talking after he once "said too much" during a press conference.

The 54-year-old star who plays King Charles III on the hit Netflix series The Crown said that he used to be real-life friends with Charles' son Prince Harry before an accidental slip-up during a press conference they did together. The pair grew close as they both took part in the charity event Walking With the Wounded in 2013. During the ambitious trip, the two took off on a journey through Antarctica alongside injured military veterans.

In an interview on “Sunday Morning” on Times Radio, Dominic spoke about his fallout with the Duke of Sussex. He confessed: "We sort of [lost touch because] I said too much in a press conference, and so, we didn’t speak after that." Host McCann then pressed for more information and Dominic vaguely recalled the press conference. He admitted to her: “I think I was asked what we did. [And] what we did to celebrate when we got there and [I] probably said too much.”

A year after the pair set off on the expedition together they reconvened for a press conference in January 2014 to recount their experience. At the time, the former Les Misérables star was thrilled to speak on his time with Prince Harry and gushed over the important role the former Royal took on as part of the team.

Dominic said: “[Harry] was very much part of the team,” and added: “He seemed to specialize in building latrines. He built this incredible castellated structure with blocks to keep out the wind, and it even had a [toilet] roll holder.”

Now, nearly a decade later, Dominic shares another unexpected connection to Prince Harry as he now stars as his father in the hit series The Crown. Dominic took over the role from Josh O'Connor in 2022 during season five of the historical drama series. As the pair are no longer speaking, Dominic did not get a chance to get advice from the Duke of Sussex ahead of his appearance on the show.

While Dominic didn't get a chance to chat about the show with his old friend, Prince Harry has admitted that he does regularly tune into the show. During a guest appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the father of two said that he keeps up-to-date on the series and "face-checks" new episodes in order to make sure that they are historically accurate.
