Michelle Collins' odd reason she's banned from working behind EastEnders bar

Michelle Collins has revealed why she is not allowed back behind Queen Vic's bar.

The actress, 61, is known for playing Cindy Beale in the BBC soap. She reprised her role last year after first appearing in EastEnders from 1988 to 1998. However, Cindy has not made an appearance back behind the bar at the iconic Queen Vic. Michelle has since decided to reveal the reason behind the decision after a fan questioned why Cindy hadn't gone back to her old job.

A viewer said: "@missmcollins I only started watching EastEnders again when you came back and all the storylines have been brilliant. Also, I'm waiting for you to be Queen of the Vic with George." Michelle responded to the fan, admitting she was "sacked" from the bar job.

She said: "Ha ha! Thank you but I'm not good with props, I worked in the #oldvic @bbceastenders years ago I got sacked for breaking too many glasses!" During a recent interview, Michelle admitted she "almost crashed her car" upon receiving the call to return to EastEnders after 25 years.

She shared: "I was driving somewhere up north and had Bluetooth on, of course. I got the call, John Cannon called from EastEnders asking if I would go back. I nearly crashed the car actually, I was like 'I've got to stop!' I had to pull over. Then I thought 'I've got to phone Adam' and he's actually already called me.

"He said: 'I've just had the call, have you?' and we both said yes! I didn't want to go back for one episode. It wouldn't have been worth it. I wanted to make sure it was planned properly. It was a big move for me. I had to make sure it was the right decision. If I left five years ago, I would have said no."

However, Michelle missed filming for the soap this week after she was left pleading with easyJet to allow her on a plane after losing her passport. The actress had jetted out to Spain to bring in the new year but lost her passport meaning she couldn't get on the flight home.

Michelle took to X, formerly Twitter, to voice her annoyance on social media as she called out the airline. She wrote: "Please easyJet can you help me I have lost my passport at Malaga airport the police (I have been there ) say it is up to the airline to let me fly home. My flight is at 8.30pm tonight I am heading to the airport having just left the police station. Thank you Michele x."

Michelle continued to slam the airline on her social media as she tried to search for answers. Yet some social media users hit out at the star accusing her of using her fame as a privilege. The social media trolls misunderstood Michelle's tweet for assistance and pointed out that easyJet couldn't let her on board "just because she's Cindy in EastEnders".

She fired back saying: "Oh please!!!!! Do you have to be horrible? I'm not an idiot just very stressed indeed Happy New Year to you." Michelle later posted: "Thank you most of you for your helpful comments, I wasn’t allowed to fly, went to the embassy was closed applied for an emergency document online so let’s see what happens will go there when it opens in the morning. Supposed to be filming @bbceastenders but I'm alive and safe."
