Wolves have little intention of letting Pedro Neto join Arsenal this month.

Arsenal are long-term admirers of the winger, back to full fitness after recovering from a hamstring injury, which had curtailed his stellar start to the Premier League season. Neto had nine goal involvements in just 11 games before suffering the injury in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle in October.

He made his return to action during Wanderers’ 3-0 win over Everton at the weekend and the fit-again 23-year-old has again been linked with a move to the Emirates.

And while the title contenders are prioritising a move for Ivan Toney, with boss Mikel Arteta wanting a new No.9 Brentford are unwilling to sell. They want close to £80million for the striker and Thomas Frank has made his feelings clear, namely stating that if he has his way, Toney will be going nowhere.

"He is a Brentford player,” said Frank on Thursday night, ironically speaking before Brentford’s FA Cup tie with Wolves on Friday. “He is here, we miss a few offensive players and I cannot see why we should sell him. I would love to have him here for a long time.

"It is not for me to discuss (an offer), but if I could ever recommend one, it would need to be an unbelievable price, so he will stay here."

With the Bees playing hardball, they could switch targets to Neto and add to their attacking ranks in a different way, with someone ready to challenge Gabriel Martinelli for his place out wide, while also offering cover for Bukayo Saka. He has been labelled 'a perfect fit' in some quarters.

But it will take a massive offer to make Wolves even consider allowing their prized asset to leave - and even that might not be enough, with Gary O'Neil determined to build on what has been a bright first half to the season for the Black Country side.

Neto is contracted at Molineux until 2027, meaning Wolves aren't under pressure to sell.

Another interesting facet in the mix is Reiss Nelson, who would like to see more regular action and has been linked with a potential loan move away from North London, to Wolves. Wanderers have been linked with both he and West Ham's Said Benrahma, as they seek to add to their own creative options.

O'Neil would also like a new No.9, with Fabio Silva having been allowed to join Rangers on a temporary deal and Sasa Kalajdzic wanted by a number of clubs in Germany. The giant Austrian may be allowed to depart, if Wolves can land themselves a replacement.
