Janette Marara has been supported by her husband Aljaz Skorjanec after she posted a "heartfelt" message.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers have had a "life-changing" year as they welcomed their first child together. They are proud parents to "miracle" baby girl Lyra Rose, following their heartbreaking IVF journey. To mark the end of the year, Janette took to her social media to issue a statement to her followers.

She wrote: "Happy New Year. Lots to be grateful for in 2023: Lyra Rose Above ALL!! My Husband and Family, Turning 40, Moving up north, Announcing my book (Pre-Sale in Bio), Being back on stage, Wonderful year of exciting projects. But as I say in the video, instead of glossy photos in a post or reel, a heartfelt, unfiltered video expressing my gratitude for the year, w/ deep empathy for all of us.

"Whatever 2023 was for you, we made it, we did it, and may we carry the lessons learned and the achievements made into 2024 w/ our hearts full of hope and kindness for ourselves and others." Meanwhile, Aljaz also took to his own social media to show his support for Janette.

He said: "This year has been the most life-changing year for me. All I want to do in 2024 is to SMASH fatherhood! Like that Metallica song goes ‘nothing else matters."

The couple announced they were expecting their first child back in February last year. They had learnt the happy news just as they were planning to start IVF treatment. Janette and Aljaz revealed they "cried and hugged" when they first saw the positive pregnancy test after two years of trying.

Janette revealed: "I know that IVF can be really strenuous on a woman's body and there is no guarantee it will work, so to know that this little miracle just came from a wonderful night we had together is amazing. I think the baby decided to make Mum and Dad panic a bit before saying, 'OK, fine, I'm coming up now'."

They welcomed baby Lyra Rose in July and have kept their fans updated as they navigate parenthood. During a recent interview with Prima, the dancers described adorable Lyra as their 'Christmas miracle', and expressed their hopes of one day expanding their family. Slovenia-born Aljaz said: "You never know. You pray for it, and hopefully it will happen. We obviously want more children, but after the process, we went through to have Lyra, you quickly learn there are never any guarantees in life."

The Cheshire-based family had to temporarily relocate at the end of last year due to their Dancing in a Winter Wonderland tour. Offering a little insight into their approach to juggling parenting with their dance careers, Jannette told her Instagram followers: "Basically, what's happened is we have rehearsals in London for three weeks before we open Dancing in a Winter Wonderland. So we got an Airbnb down in London and moved everything with us – everything for Lyra, Aljaz, and I.

"Aljaz's sister came for the first week – and now Aljaz's mother is here this week. Then my mother arrives next week and she'll be joining us for the tour. It's quite a manic schedule because we've got rehearsals all day. I've still got It Takes Two, and so our time with Lyra is limited at the moment."
