A list containing names of people who may have come into contact with millionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has been unsealed by a court and shown to include a number of high-profile Brits.

Epstein was well-known for holding lavish parties with celebrities, politicians, billionaires, and academics. In 2005, he was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida after being accused of paying a 14-year-old girl for sex. Despite dozens more accusations from underage girls claiming he'd sexually abused them, he was permitted to plead guilty to a single charge in 2008.

The judge said she decided to release the records because most of the details were already known to the public. The first 40 documents, of around 250 expected to eventually be unsealed, largely mention figures whose names were already known, including high-profile friends of Epstein's and victims who have spoken publicly.

But among the list are a number of British names who were known to have mingled with the wealthy paedophile, including a model, a physicist, and a royal. The people listed were those named as having made acquaintance with Epstein and there is no suggestion those listed either knew about his crimes or participated in any criminal behaviour.

The English supermodel was already known to have associated with the disgraced financier, having addressed his alleged crimes in a 2019 YouTube video, claiming she was "sickened" by the crimes he was accused of.

"His actions were indefensible and I would never have knowingly been involved in anything like that", she said.

While she admitted to knowing the millionaire and that she attended some of his parties, she stressed how she was never alone with him and that had only met him as an acquaintance of her boyfriend at the time, Flavio Briatore.

She continued to blast the paedophile, saying that when she heard of what he had done "it sickened me to my stomach [...] because I've had my fair share of sexual predators and thank God I had good people around who protected me from this. I stand with the victims .... They're scarred for life. For life."

Stephen Hawking

One of the most unexpected names on the list was the English theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking.

Virginia Giuffre had accused the late Cambridge professor - who visited Epstein's island in 2006 - of having participated in an "underage orgy".

In the newly released documents, an email showed that in 2015, Epstein told Maxwell that she could offer a financial reward to the friends of Virginia Giuffre if they would help prove her "orgy" allegation was false.

The email read: "“You can issue a reward to any of Virginia’s friends, acquaints, family that come forward and help prove her allegations are false. The strongest is the Clinton dinner, and the new version in the Virgin Islands that Stephen Hawking participated in an underage orgy.”

The 2006 visit was part of a conference funded by the millionaire. Images from the event showed him in front of a barbecue on Little St James months before his first child sex offence charge.

Professor Hawking, who was diagnosed with early-onset slow-progressing motor neurone disease that eventually paralysed him, passed away in 2018 aged 76.

Prince Andrew

Prince Andrew featured as one of the most high-profile names in the trove of court documents, which make up records from part of a case against Maxwell, who has already been jailed for helping Epstein procure girls.

In the new files, there is a reference to Johanna Sjoberg, who alleged that the Prince groped her breast as the pair were sitting on a sofa in Epstein's Manhattan apartment in 2001.

The royal recently paid millions to Giuffre in an out-of-court settlement without any admission of liability in a US civil claim in which she claimed to have been sexually abused by him when she was 17. The prince has strenuously denied all allegations and claims to have never met her.

An infamous photograph taken around that time appeared to show the Duke, Giuffre, and Maxwell, his longtime friend.

Ghislaine Maxwell

Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty by a jury in New York in 2021 for conspiracy and trafficking charges for helping Epstein - her on-off lover - to procure and abuse underage girls over the course of a decade.

The documents come from a 2015 civil lawsuit centred on allegations that Epstein's friend Maxwell, facilitated the sexual abuse of Virginia Giuffre, an alleged trafficking victim. She accused Epstein and Maxwell of directing her to have sex with Andrew and several other high-profile men. Andrew strongly denies all allegations.

In one of the now-unsealed documents, Maxwell testified that Bill Clinton -another man named today - never went for dinner on Epstein's Island and that she was unaware of how many times he travelled on his plane.

Another document came from Maxwell's legal team attempting to discredit a press article about Clinton's visit, which reportedly happened shortly after he left office. It claimed that as a former president, he would've had to file travel logs, and that the FBI director at the time, Louis Freeh, said that it did not happen.
