The city of Liverpool was thrown into chaos as a gunman was on the loose as police desperately hunted the man down. Overnight, there were three incidents that saw reports of shots being fired at a newsagents, cinema, and a residential property, but thankfully nobody was hurt.

It led to one shop assistant being threatened as a man carrying a large gun was said to have threatened the store assistant and demanded cash, carrying a large firearm, before he left empty handed.

Shocking footage emerged from the newsagents showing a man seemingly wearing flip-flops, entering the shop carrying a large gun. Police confirmed that whilst the shop assistant escaped uninjured, they were left "extremely distressed" by the incident.

Later on, police received further reports that shots had been fired outside the Showcase Cinema in Croxteth, leading to a lockdown as officers searched for the man - who was said to have fled in a car.
