EuroMillions winner Jane Park’s ex-partner was shot dead over an alleged feud with a rival gangster.

Teenage lotto winner Jane's recent ex-boyfriend, gangland figure Marc Webley, was shot dead during Hogmanay celebrations.

The shocking attack took place outside the Anchor Inn, in Edinburgh, just before midnight and armed police raced to the scene as paramedics tried, but were unable to, save the 38-year-old. He had reportedly been feuding with a man his blonde-haired ex, the mother of his two children, was now together with, and took to social media to mock a crime boss close to the new man, The Sun reported. It was this that was said to have led to him being shot.

Jane, who previously dated Webley, however is not the ex-partner at the heart of the gangster feud, left a single love heart as a tribute on a photo of the victim. She then later posted the following tribute: "I can’t believe I’m writing this, we spoke yesterday. If I could cuddle you again and tell you everything is going to be okay, I would give anything to do it Marc. The months we spent together, you taught me some valuable things in life and I will never forget you. I am absolutely devastated. The best bed for you is up there. My handsome."

She is said to have called time on their relationship just three weeks ago and shared an image of the love-up pair before their split including one of them in a clinch. At the beginning of December she said: “There’s nothing worse than being single on a Sunday.

Jane won the huge prize in 2013, and spent a chunk of her money on holidays, cars, designer clothes and a new three-bedroom home, but claimed the novelty soon wore off and left her feeling "bored". Earlier this year she told a US talk show she wished she had never won the money. Speaking of the abuse she received with Psychologist Dr Phil McGraw, she said: "I wish I'd never won it, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. At 17, you aren't even a proper adult, you know what I mean, I was such a young naïve 17-year-old as well."

In January 2023, Jade spoke out about almost dying after using some of her winnings to get cosmetic surgery. She appeared on popular US talk show host Dr Phil and revealed she got sepsis after using the money to get a Brazilian Bum Lift. In the episode, titled 'The Curse of the Lottery', Jane talked about the downsides of her huge prize.

"The money made it a lot easier for me to decide, 'Well, I hate this about my body so I'm going to change it'," she said. "I had a procedure done in a different country and when I flew back I ended up with sepsis which is like blood poisoning. I nearly died. I was in the hospital for a month... I had to stay there for a while."

She also told Dr Phil that she doesn't regret any of the money she spent, but regrets how public she went with the winnings. Before her jackpot win, Jane worked as an office assistant and lived in a council flat with her mum. The winning ticket was the first lottery numbers she had ever bought.

Webley was previously cleared of two charges of attempted murder last year at the High Court, in Scotland. He denied claims he repeatedly slammed his car into another vehicle which was carrying driver Richard Hughes and passenger Lyndsay McLaughlin. But the Scot had been previously been jailed for 11 years after shooting a drugs gang rival.

According to the Daily Record Webley had told close pals he was expecting an attack and had been carrying weapons wherever he went. His older brother Don posted a picture of him on social media and followers rushed to offer their condolences. Gangland sources told the Daily Record: "Don posted on his Facebook that Marc went the day he wanted, the way he wanted and then laid down the gauntlet by saying 'come and get it.' There's going to be wars in the city if Marc has been murdered."

Following the fatal shooting in Edinburgh on New Year’s Eve, a senior police officer said “everything possible” is being done to find those responsible. Detective Superintendent Graham Grant said: "This is believed to have been a targeted incident and our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of both men involved.

"Inquiries are at a very early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened, and while officers have already gathered CCTV and spoken to various people who were in the area at the time, I’d urge anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to us to come forward. In particular if anyone has private CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam of the Granton Crescent/Road area around the time of the incident, please bring it to our attention.

"This incident will undoubtedly have caused concern in the local community and officers will be carrying out extra patrols of the area and I’d like to reassure the public that everything possible is being done to trace whoever is responsible."
