Dad of Emily Atack's baby is step-cousin she's known 30 years before romance
Emily Atack's boyfriend and the father of her unborn baby is her step-cousin who knew the star for almost 30 years before romance blossomed, it's been reported.
The Inbetweeners actress, who announced her surprise pregnancy news last week, is expecting her first child later this year with her boyfriend Dr Alistair Garner, after striking up a romance with him last year.
It's now been claimed that Emily, 34, and her baby daddy, 37, have actually known each other for decades, thanks to some family connections. It's reported Emily's famous mother, actress Kate Robbins, and Alistair's step-mum are actually sisters - making the future parents step-cousins.
It's thought Emily, who is around five months pregnant, and scientist Alistair have known each other for around three decades, thanks to Emily's aunt Jane Garner meeting her boyfriend's late dad Stephen Garner during the early nineties and eventually tying the knot in 1994.

The actress shocked fans when she revealed her huge pregnancy bump on Instagram last week (Emily Atack/Instagram)According to reports, nuclear scientist Alistair even appears in some family pictures, with the future father seen in a snap surrounded by Emily's relatives in 2017 - with his arm wrapped around his girlfriend's sister Martha. The caption reportedly read: "He's just one of the girls really."

"Emily and Alistair have grown close over the past 12 months," a source has told the MailOnline. "It was unexpected but their family is delighted for them. They make a great couple and everybody is excited for their new arrival." The Mirror has contacted representative for Emily for comment on this story.
Kate, Emily's mother, reacted to her daughter's pregnancy announcement over the weekend, admitting she was "thrilled" ahead of becoming a grandmother. Crossroads actress Kate, 65, expressed her excitement on Instagram, writing: "My baby having a baby. Could not be more thrilled if I tried."
Before finding love with her nuclear scientist beau, Emily had been linked to a few other famous faces, including Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice, footballer Jack Grealish and Harry Styles. The actress was seen by many as a happy singleton who was looking for Mr Right.

Dr Alistair pictured with his late father Steve, who was married to Emily's auntHowever, she opened up about feeling lonely as her search for love had gone wrong. She said in August: "People think I fly the flag for all the single ladies, but I'm not afraid to admit being on your own is miserable a lot of the time. It's pretty hard. There are times when I go out and I feel confident and sexy on my own and I'm independent. 'But there are times when I cry myself to sleep because it's lonely and awful, and it's OK to admit that, I think."
Emily has been linked to Dr Alistair since September after they were seen together in London. A source shared: "She had a cocktail and Alistair ordered a beer. Emily looked to be having a great time and couldn't stop smiling. When they left they were holding hands."
Scientist Alistair went to the University of Manchester and got his PhD there. The University's website says he's an expert in "Materials scientist and electron microscopist specialising in the degradation of high performance alloys for nuclear and aerospace applications". He's thought to be working at Jacobs, a company all about sustainability, where he works as a Senior Consultant and Technical Lead for Core Materials.
Emily announced her baby news on Instagram on Saturday night, sharing a photo of her growing baby bump. She wrote: "Hello Everyone, it's been a little while but I'm back with some news. I'm delighted to share with you all that we're having a baby!! I've never been so happy and utterly terrified at the same time."
She added: "Please go easy on me. Every day is mixed with thrill, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with a lot of vomiting - a bit like when you've just stepped off of the Oblivion at Alton Towers on a hangover. I've got to know my body on such an insane level. It's made me appreciate the one I've been given SO much, I'm doing my absolute best to make it a home for the little squid I'm growing. We can already sense the baby is reclined on a mattress of peanut butter and jam sandwiches in there, demanding more chocolate buttons. I'm so happy to be writing all of this to you all. You've always stuck by me through the years, do stick around to watch me enter my mum era. Christ. Let's go."
