First Dates turns awkward as RHOCH star red-faced as man doesn't recognise her
A singleton was left very red-faced on Channel 4's First Dates.
In the latest instalment of the programme, Real Housewives of Cheshire personality Lauren Simon is hoping to find love, six years after she split from her ex-husband, Paul Simon in 2018. Lauren's love life has played out on the ITVBe show, with her recent relationship with a plumber appearing to be going well.
However, she later confirmed that they had split and she was on the lookout for a suitable partner again. But the businesswoman is hoping Maitre'd Fred Sirieix may be able to help her find her happy ever after.
Upon entering the restaurant, Fred told the 47-year-old star he had been watching her for "so many years", leaving Lauren excited. Unbeknownst to her, waitresses in the restaurant also recognised her and pointed out she appears alongside the likes of Rachel Lugo, Seema Malhotra, Nicole Sealey and Hanna Kinsella on the ITV programme.
As Lauren sat down for her date with Chiles the red-headed siren was left stunned when he asked whether the two drinks on the bar were indeed hers, leaving her frowning. But things went even more downhill as they started discussing their roots, with Lauren explaining she's from Cheshire and Chiles from Manchester.
Escape to the Chateau's Dick and Angel give exciting news as fans beg for return"So what do you do?" he asked, before Lauren, through gritted teeth said: "I think you know what I do." But, she was left looking very awkward when Chiles responded: "No? I have no idea. Why? Why would I have guessed? There's a story there, right? I'm very intrigued by what you do, you're very secretive about it."
"I'm a stripper," Lauren responded, leaving Chiles questioning her admission. However, she later went on to say: "I work in the television on the Real Housewives of Cheshire which is highly-publicised in Manchester so I would have assumed you would have known!"
Fans have since taken to social media to react, with one writing: "Oh God Lauren I'm cringing for you…that 'you know who I am' made my skin crawl. Tho I'm not sure he's for you, seems a bit too sensible & old." A second penned: "OMG Lauren you're so funny."
While a third added: "No man of that age would know. It's nice that he doesn't so they can take you for face value." "He looked like he wished he knew what you did, seemed so genuine you look amazing," commented a fourth.
Lauren has previously opened up about her love life and juggling it with her work on the programme. Following her divorce, she told OK! Magazine: "I took a year off filming to try and finalise the divorce, but the plan was always to go back to the show. I just needed to take some time off to sort myself out because it was a huge life change. The divorce battle is sadly still ongoing, but it felt like the right time to go back for me."
She was later granted a £3 million payout from her ex-husband who later fought this and claimed it had been "discriminatory".
