Tara Reid may well forever be remembered for her impressive role as Vicky Lathum in the iconic American Pie franchise. However, she's ready to step out of the stereotype for exciting roles that lie ahead.

More than 20 years has elapsed since the first edition of the hugely popular franchise and fans are still chomping at the bit for the original cast to get back together. Now, as she opens up on her past, present and future, Tara teased the Mirror by saying it could well be on the cards. However, now 48, the blonde beauty insists she's also excited to move away from the role that helped make her name and has a host of projects to look forward to.

Speaking to the Mirror, Tara revealed: "We're getting into a lot of things. I'm producing stuff now and we're auctioning books and you know, there's just a lot of stuff happening. It's really great and it's exciting. You know, I think you're gonna see I'm not a child anymore. So I'm not American Pie anymore. I'm 48 years old. I'm growing into a woman, so I think the characters and things you're going to see me do are going to be a lot different and it's exciting to grow and have the fans grow with me."

And Tara is positive that any American Pie links will not affect her future roles, saying: "I think they did for a while [stereotype her], but I mean, that's what I was when I was younger. It's now 25 years later. You look at like a college picture of yourself and then you look yourself now it's just definitely not going to be the same. So I've grown up a lot. And I think you're gonna see that in my future roles so I'm excited for that."

Tara also went on to gush over the positive changes being made within Hollywood recently. Whereas previously there was known to be nastiness from within, Tara believes this has reduced. "I think Hollywood's become kinder and nicer," she said. "I think with everything that's gone down through COVID and the SAG strike, a lot of people have gone through so much. It's like, people are really trying to be nicer to people, especially with what's going on everywhere."

A turning point for her reputation, in her eyes, could have been her recent appearance on reality show Special Forces. She said: "People really took to that. I think they saw a real side of me that was human and real.

"People don't always get to see that and people really responded really well to that. I get messages every day from people saying I inspire them and they were so happy I did it. It was really inspiring for me to see such nice comments and see such nice things. It really felt good."
