Sir Rod Stewart welcomed in the new year with his family in Scotland on Sunday, as the iconic singer's appearance on Jools Holland's Annual Hootenanny aired on the BBC.

The Baby Jane singer, 78, made his debut on the long-running show on New Year's Eve, with Joss Stone, Olivia Dean, Paul Jones, PP Arnold, Raye, Sugababes and The Mary Wallopers also joining Jools and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra as they rang in 2024 in style.

But as Rod wowed BBC viewers with his stint on pre-recorded special on Sunday night, the rocker and his family were actually living it up in a five-star hotel in Scotland - enjoying their "first ever #hogmanay" and embracing their Scottish heritage.

After celebrating his beloved football team Celtic’s 2-1 win over Rangers on Saturday, Rod, his wife Penny Lancaster and their 18-year-old son Alistair were spotted enjoying a break at five-star Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire.

Former model Penny shared a snap of her family in the Aucherarder hotel’s American Bar on Instagram with her 190,000 followers over the weekend, tagging her family in the sweet snap. Penny looked stunning in a long black gown as she posed alongside her son and husband, who were both looking dapper in a suit and tie.

Taking to Instagram again on New Year's Day, Penny shared further snaps of how she and her loved ones rang in 2024 - with Rod and his two sons Alastair and Aiden rocking kilts as they celebrated a new year in Scottish style. "First ever #hogmanay boys are proud of their Scottish heritage," Penny captioned the sweet update. " #happynewyear @aidenstew_1888 @alastairwstewart @sirrodstewart."

"What a photo! Happy New Year you gorgeous lot xxx," one fan commented underneath Penn's snap on Monday, with a second adding: "Outstanding Family Photo. A heritage piece. Best wishes to all for an amazing 2024." Another Instagram user added: "Just watched Jools' Hootenanny, best one in years!"

Rod's Scottish break follows the legendary singer celebrating his sister's 95th birthday last week, with the Do You Think I'm Sexy? singer sharing a sweet snap of his beloved sibling with his fans on social media. The 78 year old music legend, who is the youngest of five children, put a spotlight on his sister Mary as she marked her milestone birthday.

On Boxing Day, Rod shared a photo of himself and Mary posing together in a posh hotel on Instagram Stories. The Maggie May singer looked dapper in a sparkly animal print jacket, white shirt, waistcoat, and black trousers. Mary looked chic in a dark dress, accessorising with a necklace and a stylish evening bag. Rod captioned the snap: "Happy 95th sister Mary", with fans rushing to comment on the singer's touching family update.
