BBC fans beg Rylan to restart music career after amazing Rick Astley performance

Rylan Clark's New Year's Eve with performance with none other than Rick Astley has been celebrated by hundreds of fans as they continue to beg the former X Factor star to restart his music career.

The This Morning star, 35, who found fame on The X Factor in 2012 before becoming a beloved TV presenter, brought in 2024 at BBC One’s New Year’s Eve Rocks celebrations alongside music royalty Rick and Sharleen Spiteri, dazzled viewers with his singing voice one again after swapping his music career for TV.

Last night, Rylan proved that he's still got the incredible vocals as he performed a rendition of You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) by British pop band Dead or Alive. The This Morning star commanded the stage alongside Rick and oozed confidence as he belted out the iconic 1980's tune.

Taking to Twitter to poke fun at his performance, Rylan wrote: "It can’t get worse than me singing you into the new year. 2024 is on the up from here. Happy new year." He followed up his tweet with a photo of himself looking rather bored and unimpressed after ringing in the New Year. Alongside the snap, Rylan quipped: "New Year. New Me. And all that b*****s".

However, his fans were quick to disagree as they replied in their hundreds to insist that Rylan's performance with Rick 'will go down in history' as they gushed over the sweet and special moment. One admirer of Rylan's shared: "On the contrary, I've peaked too early now! What a brilliant start to the year... more singing please! Happy new year you ICON."

Another fan agreed: "You were amazing!! What are you even talking about. I completely forgot you could sing." Someone else echoed: "Totally slept through midnight! Catching up with the @rickastley midnight show which is glorious! How amazing was @Rylan? The guy can do no wrong."

"You were soooo good. You and Rick should start a duo. The Rick and Rylan show," another fan quipped, while someone else gushed: "Honestly, I was having a hard night and seeing you be completely yourself and just singing your heart out made me smile. You're one in a million Rylan. Happy New Year."
