A mystery beachgoer has left police and local people puzzled after he was found collapsed at a beach.

The man was found unconscious and was taken to hospital - but had no phone or identification to tell officials who he is.

Police desperately want to trace his friends and family of the man, and have released his photograph in the hope someone will recognise him.

He was found collapsed in Swansea Bay in south Wales on Saturday, and a receipt for a pub in nearby Rhossili, Gower, was found in his pocket.

Officers later obtained CCTV footage of him at The Worms Head Pub, and he is also known to frequent The Black Boy Pub in Killay, Swansea.

Staff at both pubs said they recognised him but did not know his name. The man is currently in hospital in a stable condition, police said.

A spokesperson from South Wales Police said: "He is in hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable. The man had no identification or mobile phone on him, but by using receipts found in his wallet, officers have been able to locate CCTV images of him at The Worms Head Pub, Rhossili.

"He also frequents The Black Boy Pub, Killay, Swansea. Staff at both premises recognise him from the photograph, but unfortunately don’t know his name or his next of kin. He was found unresponsive on Swansea Bay at around 10.30am. It is believed he suffered a medical episode and there are no suspicious circumstances. Anyone with information is asked to please contact South Wales Police by one of the following means quoting 2300441687."
