Masked Singer UK fans 'solve' identity of Maypole - and it's 'not Rita Ora'

The Masked Singer viewers have changed their minds on who Maypole is on the ITV series, and it's 'not' Rita Ora.

Several fans had guessed in a huge trickery, show panellist Rita would turn out to be the character. Maypole dropped some big clues in their clue VT, before performing Never Gonna Not Dance Again by P!nk.

As their performance came to an end, it was the panel's turn to guess who they thought was under the mask. Clues included possible links to Eurovision, a possibly fake American accent and wanting to break free.

Rita was missing from the latest episode due to being in America, so last series' winner Charlie Simpson replaced her. Viewers began to predict Rita was not in America, and was in fact Maypole.

But on Saturday night as Weather was eliminated, host Joel Dommett confirmed Rita would be back on the panel the following week. She was also shown in a teaser clip, possibly ruling her out as the character.

Now, some viewers think they know who is really under the mask, predicting it's another famous singer. Of it not being Rita, one fan posted on X: "Maypole is not Rita Ora. Stop it. She’s literally on the panel this series so… it also sounds nothing like her."

Another agreed: "So if Rita is back Maypole can't be her, oh well, maybe could be Jessie J then??" Viewers then began to comment on whether it could in fact be singer Jessie J under the costume instead of Rita.

One fan posted: "Wait…is Maypole Jessie J?" Another said: "I feel like maypole sounds like Jessie J??," as a third wrote: "Wait…is Maypole Jessie J?" On Saturday, the show axed its first contestant with Weather unmasked as Dionne Warwick on the ITV series.

Music icon Dionne left the panel starstruck as she unveiled herself as the star under the costume. She then shared her joy at being asked to do the series, but admitted the struggles she faced trying to disguise her voice on the show.

Rita is returning to The Masked Singer (ITV)

Viewers had predicted the singer might be behind the mask before she was revealed to be. Weather dropped a number of clues about their identity on the show before and after their performance.

Clues included being powerful and dominating, and weathering the storm - as well as references to Blues music. One viewer said: "Weather is Dion Warwick," as another tweeted: "Weather has got to be Dionne Warwick."

A third added: "Dionne Warwick is Weather," while a fourth said: "Weather can’t be Dionne Warwick…can it!?"
