Masked Singer's Rat 'rumbled' as Coronation Street star as identity 'sealed'

The Masked Singer UK's Rat may have been exposed, if viewer theories are anything to go by.

Rat took to the stage on Saturday night, delivering a big performance and dropping a series of clues. They were against Weather, competing to stay on the series.

Clues included a Liverpudlian accent, social media references, dancing and lots of mentions of cleaning. The panel also noticed what looked like a girl guides uniform, while there were also some tools and mentions of DIY.

The show returned on Saturday night, with panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan and guest panellist Charlie Simpson trying to work out the identity of six new characters. Confirmed for the latest lineup were Cricket, Weather, Marypole, Bigfoot, Egg and Rat.

Also taking part are Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Owl, Piranha, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar. After Rat finished performing, some viewers shared their thoughts on who the celebrity might be under the Rat mask.

Many were convinced it was Brookside and Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney. One viewer said on X: "Claire Sweeney for Rat," as another agreed: "rat is Claire Sweeney?" A third fan commented: "Rat is Claire Sweeney? A teenager on Brookside, now on Corrie. Just been on Britain Get Singing."

Host Joel Dommett couldn’t wait for the show to start and previously said: "Honestly, they are the best costumes ever. If they don’t make you smile, well, get out! Air Fryer is unbelievably silly. It's so liberating to be a part of a show where first of all, people really enjoy it and also from my point of view, any idea I have, it's fair game. Even when it comes to the suits!

"I think we've definitely got some of the best vocalists we've ever had on the show and we've had some really incredible ones in the past. The show goes through an interesting meandering of, we are all here for all the new characters, but then maybe the better singers start to get through in the last rounds, usually the final. Let's be honest, it’s usually really incredible singers left at that point. This year I really do feel like we've got some of the best we've ever had."

Talking about the costumes, Jonathan Ross said: "I love all of them. I really loved Weather. I thought that was a really beautiful, quite romantic, quite poetic looking costume. I liked Piranha a lot. They're fun, I have to say. Bubble Tea is great. Well, Bubble Tea and Air Fryer make the show very, very modern, don't they? There's a couple of phrases that weren't in common conversation two or three years ago, and now we've got them dancing on primetime ITV1!"
