Mum struggling on benefits becomes a millionaire after two epic bingo wins
A mum-of-four who was struggling on benefits became a millionaire after an extraordinary twist of fate that completely changed her life.
Anita Campbell experienced an amazing double-win at online , scooping more than £500,000 twice in a matter of days. She had been on due to ill health, but has now bought her elderly father a new home, treated her children, and paid off her debts.
Speaking at the time of the win in 2019, Anita said: "It's still a bit of a dream. I'm over the moon. I still can't believe it. I thought straightaway, I can help my kids with this money."
The mum, from Seaham, County Durham, also spoke about her time on Universal Credit: "It's been more than a year and it has been very hard," she said. "I've lost weight, I've not been able to eat properly, which has had an effect on my diabetes."
Anita won £597,000 hours after joining an online bingo game. And just 10 days after that, she bagged another £522,000. "I just couldn't believe that I'd won again," she admitted.
Baby boy has spent his life in hospital as doctors are 'scared' to discharge himAnita immediately treated her four children to shopping trips and bought toys for her five-year-old grandson. She said: "He rang me and asked, 'Nana, are you rich? Can I have some Lego?'"
Anita also moved out of her rented home into a new property, giving away her old furniture. And she paid off debts from her mother's funeral one year earlier. It comes after a woman 'hit the jackpot' in an entirely different way after giving birth in a bingo hall.
Tammy Hall now has a 'full house' after her fourth , Teddie, arrived safely, thanks to the help of quick-thinking staff at the venue. She said: "I thought I may win a prize and I certainly did, the biggest prize of all - a new healthy baby boy. Many people have said 'You've got a full house now' and 'You hit the jackpot that night' - and everyone calls him 'Legs 11 Teddie.'"
Waitress Tammy had felt some contractions on October 29 but was told by a midwife to "carry on" with her life as the wasn't imminent. So the next night she went with her family to her local Club 3000 Bingo club, in Blackpool before suddenly feeling sick at around 9pm.
The venue's caring staff then came to her rescue, calling 999 and comforting her as she had a series of very intense contractions. And just 30 minutes later, she gave birth to her 8lb 9oz little boy in the back of an ambulance, parked outside the bingo hall.
She said: "I started having contractions the night before I went to bingo, but when I contacted the hospital, they said as it was my fourth baby, it could go on for two or three days. So my mum said, 'Let's go to bingo,' and it came on that fast that I didn't expect it myself. The staff at Club 3000 Bingo in Blackpool were incredible and so calm and caring."
