Gerwyn Price poked fun at his astonishing ear-defender antics as he jetted to the Middle East for an exciting new darts tournament.

'The Iceman' shocked darts fans at the World Championship on New Years' Day when he returned from a break wearing industrial headphones to block out abuse from the crowd.

Price crashed out at the quarter-final stage to German outsider Gabriel Clemens, but his unprecedented stunt to drown out his haters dominated the headlines at Ally Pally.

The strange tactic lasted just one set as Price removed the contraption before ultimately being silenced 5-1 by Clemens on a bizarre night of action in North London.

And Price later cryptically deleted all his Instagram posts after remarkably threatening to boycott the showpiece event because of the hostile Alexandra Palace crowd.

“So frustrating, you play all year round, preparing for this one tournament," he had said in his immediate reaction to his shock exit. "So gutted I wasn’t let play but good luck everyone left in. Not sure I will ever play in this event again.”

But Price is now in good spirits once again and has shown no further signs of wanting to walk away from the sport.

The 2021 world champion returned to the oche with an exhibition tournament victory in Germany last week with his ear-defenders nowhere to be seen.

And he made light of his unforgettable headphones stunt as he continues to restock his Instagram account and connect with fans after wiping his history following his Ally Pally exit.

“Trying out a new set [headphones emoji]," Price captioned his selfie, grinning in a fresh pair of headphones.

The fiery Welshman was travelling to the Middle East for the inaugural Bahrain Darts Masters, the first World Series of Darts event of the year.

He joins new world champion Michael Smith and six other PDC representatives, while Singapore darts legend Paul Lim headlines a list of eight Asian players in the tournament.
