Holly Willoughby made an unexpected appearance on This Morning as she prepares to resume her role as Dancing On Ice host.

The TV presenter is said to have left ITV bosses "delighted" as she confirmed she would continue to host the ice skating competition. As the news of Holly's return to screens was announced, she also made an appearance on daytime show This Morning. It comes after Holly quit her job on the ITV programme back in October.

She decided to step away from TV after she learned of an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her. However on Thursday, Holly appeared alongside This Morning's Josie Gibson for a pre-recorded episode hosted by Rylan Clark and Emma Willis. She surprised viewers with her return as she interviewed actress Miriam Margolyes.

The trio had a hilarious chat, where Miriam left Holly and Josie in giggles with her cheeky stories. The interview was actually filmed back in September, where Miriam went on to host a phone-in with viewers. It ended up with Holly red-faced as she had to repeatedly apologise, after show favourite Miriam swore twice.

Fans were not so impressed with the pre-recorded episode as they took to X - formerly Twitter - to complain about the repeated segments. One said: "Not Rick Astley again and Miriam Margolyes etc, how many times have they been on #ThisMorning talking about their careers, this show needs a full revamp, it's so bloody boring and tired!"

Another added: "Why bother making new content when you can just repeat this dreadful skit instead? #thismorning." Someone else quipped: "So these two are being paid a lot to introduce highlights?" A fourth fumed: "Just flicked through the channels to see if there’s anything else on and it’s dire #ThisMorning."

While one viewer commented: "Is it over yet? #thismorning," as another wrote: "At least tomorrow is not only the last #ThisMorning of the week, but the last show of 2023." Earlier this week Holly made another appearance on This Morning through a repeated segment.

However, some fans weren’t aware of the repeat, sparking confusion and theories Holly had returned for good. "Viewers just switching on will think Holly's back," wrote another ITV viewer on X. "Calm [down], guys, it's a compilation clip. Holly hasn't actually returned on This Morning," added a third. While another commented: "I think Holly will make a return eventually."

Holly quit the show after 14 years in October after being forced to pull out of hosting at the last minute. She was recently seen with friends enjoying the festivities in the lead up to Christmas and has finally confirmed her TV comeback. The presenter will join Stephen Mulhern as her new co-host on Dancing On Ice.

ITV bosses weren't sure if Holly planned to return to the much-loved figure skating show in January, as she's been staying out of the public eye since leaving her This Morning gig in October to focus on "me and my family." An insider told the Mirror: "ITV are delighted to have Holly back. Stephen is a good friend of hers too so she will enjoy working with him again."

ITV confirmed Holly's return today, with Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV, saying: "Holly and Stephen are two of our best loved presenters, so reuniting them twenty years after they first appeared on screen together to host Dancing on Ice marks the start of an exciting year for the show. Celebrating 20 years since they first worked together on Ministry of Mayhem, Willoughby and Mulhern will preside over the action on the high octane skating show as this year’s celebrities compete to become champion of the ice. Judges Torvill and Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse are back on the panel."
