Legendary musician Cher has reportedly filed for a conservatorship of her son Elijah Blue Allman amid his alleged recent substance abuse and mental health issues.

The 77-year-old singing sensation, welcomed her son Elijah Blue Allman, known professionally as P. Exeter Blue (Phillips Exeter Blue), in 1976. Elijah is the son of Cher and her second husband, Gregg Allman.

Elijah, who is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and lyricist of the industrial metal band Deadsy, is the half-brother of Chaz Bono, Delilah Allman, Michael Allman, Layla Allman, and Devon Allman. In 2014, the musician admitted that he began taking drugs at age 11 and battled heroin addiction for years, but claimed that he had been sober since 2008.

According to recent documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by People Magazine, Cher is looking to be the sole conservator of her son's estate. The documents are reported to state that he is "substantially unable to manage his financial resources", hence Cher calling for a conservatorship.

The document also states that the conservator is "urgently needed ... to protect Elijah’s property from loss or injury" because he is "currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues."

Elsewhere in the papers, it is alleged that his estranged wife, Marieangela King, is not fit to be his conservator because "their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises."

People also reports that the documents state that Cher's son is "entitled to regular distributions from the Trust" but because of his mental health issues and alleged "substance abuse issues", his mother is "concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk".

Elijah is Cher's second-born son. Cher became a first-time mother when she welcomed Chaz Bono with her then-husband Sonny Bono back in 1969.
