Home Alone fan spots tiny detail in film that proves Kevin 'wasn't alone'
Christmas isn't Christmas without rewatching all your favourite festive films - and Home Alone sits at the top of that list for many.
By now you've probably watched these movies more than a dozen times, and you can probably act out a few scenes and have some of the lines down. But can you be sure you haven't missed anything?
One keen-eyed-viewer picked up on a small detail in Home Alone that they'd never noticed before - despite watching it 'thousands' of times. And it's left people convinced that poor Kevin wasn't the only child left behind.
The problems in Home Alone start with the overly-nosey neighbour kid who is counted in place of Kevin as the family heads into the vans to get to the airport. Poor Kevin, still sleeping in the attic upstairs where he was sent as a punishment, doesn't hear a thing and the McCallister family wakes up running late for their flight.
They can all be seen throwing around suitcases in the crazy montage as we watch them bleary-eyed and rushing to the door to get to their flight. It's Kevin's oldest cousin Heather who is to blame for mistaking Kevin for another child and TikTok user spotted it wasn't her only blunder during the ill-fated counting process.
What are your tips for getting back into shape after Christmas?Heather who was the designated person counting heads and making sure everyone was present should never have been trusted with the responsibility of making sure the kids were accounted for. The scene is chaotic enough but to add to it all in the background Buzz shouts out random numbers to distract her like the toddler he is.
He's somewhat successful at his distraction-toddler-tactics because they seem to work and Heather counts herself twice during the process - patting her own head at both number three and number 11. The keen-eyed TikToker spotted the counting blunder.
When questioned if she completed the headcount of all the children, Heather - aka captain can't count - smugly replies: "Eleven, including me. Five boys, six girls, four parents, two drivers... and a partridge in a pear tree."
But if there's meant to be 11 children and she's counted herself twice, which other small, defenceless child has she carelessly left behind?
The video uploaded to TikTok has been viewed 1.2 million times and is titled: "I've seen Home Alone thousands of times how have I never noticed this?!" - adding in the captions: 'She counts herself at 3 and 11.'
While some people were forgiving and put the blunder down to an acting error or continuity gaff, others weren't feeling the Christmas spirit quite so much. One person commented to say: "Ummmm that means another kid was forgotten about... Kevin wasn't alone..."
A second wrote: "Then technically they're missing two kids because isn't one the neighbour?"
And another added: "So if she counted herself twice and [the] random kid in the van, then that means there should have been an extra kid in the count... and two kids missing on [the] trip."
