NFL commentator makes Taylor Swift blunder as she cheers on Travis Kelce

An NFL commentator mistakenly referred to Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce's wife - for a second time.

ESPN presenter Tony Romo made the error during the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Las Vegas Raiders yesterday. The camera cut to Taylor, 34, cheering on her man, also 34, from the stands.

Romo said: “And his wife loves it, I mean, girlfriend." His co-host Jim Nantz replied: "You’ve been down that road with that before."

Last week Romo said the same thing during the Bills-Chiefs game. He said: "As you see, Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, in the audience", before quickly adding, "Er, I'm sorry. Girlfriend!" His co-commentator laughed: "Not yet."

You can see why he might have been mixed up due to intense speculation of an upcoming engagement. There have been multiple reports about Kansas City Chief player Travis wanting to pop the question to the Shake It Off singer, including rumours he wanted to do it at her birthday party earlier this month.

The NFL star is reported to have asked Taylor's dad Scott Swift for his blessing as he prepares to propose. Amid the rumours, Taylor and Scott flew out to watch Travis' team the Kansas City Chiefs take on the New England Patriots earlier this month.

A source told Page Six : "Scott has been asked for his blessing and has wholeheartedly given it, and Travis has been talking to friends about a ring." Travis is even rumoured to be getting the engagement ring designed specially for Taylor.

A source spoke to Life & Style recently, with them also hinting that Travis could propose over the romantic festive period as they enjoy their first Christmas as a couple. They said: "There are whispers that he could use the opportunity to propose - that's what everyone, including Taylor, is hoping for!"
