An awkward moment was caught on camera saw Kate Middleton appear to rebuff Prince William's attempt at affection during Christmas special.

The clip - from 2019 - has re-emerged amid the festivities, taking place during the BBC's special 'A Berry Royal Christmas', hosted by TV personality Mary Berry. The Prince of Wales was seen trying to put his hand on his wife's shoulder but the Princess of Wales appeared to shrug him off.

The royal couple were seen making cups of tea and icing cupcakes, while Mary even innocently asked Kate if she wanted to "have a squirt on a cake" after handing her a piping bag during the special.

The show saw Mary invited to visit the charities which the Waleses support. But the royal couple also got involved in some baking. Kate and Mary were also seen wandering through the gardens of RHS Wisley. "We made your pizza dough!" gushed Kate, a bit giddy.

She then told how one of Prince Louis' first words was 'Mary' because he always sees her cookbooks in the kitchen. She also revealed Princess Charlotte loves Charlotte potatoes and Prince George loves drawing and football. While William makes a good breakfast and spaghetti bolognese. Kate also said she makes her own kids' birthday cakes.

It comes as Louis, five, warmed the hearts of viewers on Christmas Eve as he adorably stole the show during his mum's Royal Carols: Together At Christmas, which aired on Sunday night on ITV. Princess Kate returned to Westminster Abbey to host a special Christmas carol service, which aired on December 24.

This year, the carol service focused on the importance of early childhood and thanking those who are supporting the very youngest members of society during their early years, as part of the Shaping Us campaign. Kate hosted her Together At Christmas event earlier this month on December 8, welcoming her family, members of the monarchy and inspiring individuals in celebration of those supporting children and families.

During the special carol concert on Sunday, viewers spotted an adorable Prince Louis moment as he 'stole the show'. During the concert, legendary actor Jim Broadbent read an extract from The Father Christmas Letters by JRR Tolkien. Prince Louis, five, was seen excitedly pointing and smiling at Jim, 74, during the reading.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: "So cute the way Prince Louis's face lit up when Jim Broadbent did his reading of Letters from Father Christmas from J.R.R.Tolkien! #RoyalCarols #TogetherAtChristmas", a different account put: "Louis is honestly the cutest little boy. #RoyalCarols" while another added: "Oooh Louis's first stealing of the show! #RoyalCarols."

Elsewhere, the young Royal took centre stage when he attempted to blow out a candle at Westminster Abbey. The adorable five-year-old was pictured as he took a deep breath to put out his candle at the concert earlier this month. Louis, who is fifth in the line to the throne, stole the show as he brought joy to Kate, who broke out into a huge smile. He was joined by his siblings Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, seven, at the service, who later posted cards to children in need outside of the abbey.
