EastEnders fans were quick to complain minutes into the Christmas episode as they fumed 'it's not right'.

The BBC soap is airing its biggest episode of the year, when one man - or maybe more - dies in a shock twist this Christmas. We know one of The Six - Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) - will be the killer, but who will it be?

The soap has been teasing the person's identity for months after the flashforward back in February revealed that one man died on Sharon's wedding day, with fans eager to find out who it might be and who killed them.

Taking to social media, fans fumed over the late time for the soap, which kicked off this evening at 9.45pm on BBC One and will be one for an hour. One wrote: "Missing #EastEnders tonight as i have to go to bed for work so catch up tomorrow. Why put it on so late," whilst a second added: "#EastEnders is on a bit to late to be honest." A third said: "it’s so late omg i’ll be older than kathy by the time this episode comes on #EastEnders," with a fourth writing: "Why, oh, why have they decided to put #EastEnders on so late? I really want to watch it but my eyes are saying different!!"

Soap bosses have been working hard to keep the big reveal a secret ahead of the episode tonight, including the fact the soap didn't put the episode up on iPlayer at 6am on Christmas Day morning like they usually do with new episodes.

"We’ve had several methods in place throughout the entire year to keep the storyline a secret and to ensure that the Christmas Day episode and the big reveal of who’s on the floor – plus who does it – remains under wraps until the 25th December. Sadly, I can’t reveal what those methods are as that would give everything away, but it would be a real shame if anyone spoiled the surprise as we know how much the audience love watching the drama unfold in real-time," executive producer Chris Clenshaw said.

"We’re incredibly pleased with the positive reaction to the Flash-Forward and The Six storyline since February. It’s been a long time in the making and the Christmas Day reveal really is an episode to watch live on Christmas Day. We’re thrilled with the buzz around The Six. It’s exactly what we hoped for; we hoped people would chat, we hoped people would speculate, we hoped that everyone would come up with their own theories and share those theories with one another. We wanted it to be a storyline that brings the viewers together too, and we’re over the moon that it seems to be doing that and the audience are enjoying being a part of it."
