Vincent Kompany sends message to Burnley players ahead of Liverpool clash
Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is encouraging his team to relish the challenge of facing Liverpool, despite accepting they are major underdogs.
He said: "I don't think I'm offending anyone by saying I don't think we're favourites for that game." Kompany is hopeful that his side can build on their recent 2-0 victory over Fulham and cause an upset against Jurgen Klopp's men.
He added: "We have to take the positivity from this (Fulham) game and try and have another moment. There's no point of coming to this level if you're not going to enjoy the prospect of playing these teams."
Burnley's win over Fulham on Saturday ended a three-game run without a victory and was only the third time this season that Kompany's side have claimed a full three points.
Reflecting on his tenure since taking over in summer 2022, Kompany credited his team's resilience during tough times. He concluded: "The advantage I have (managing Burnley) is the history together. We've won a lot of games and we've said in those moments who we want to be when it becomes more difficult.
Klopp's dream Liverpool line up as last-gasp January transfers rejected"It's about how you prepare yourself, how you're able to bounce back and eventually you get moments like (against Fulham)."
