Israel refugee camp air strike kills 70 as dad loses daughter and grandkids
An Israeli air strike has killed at least 70 people in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.
A Hamas spokesman described the aerial assault as “a massacre”. The Israeli military said it was reviewing reports of an incident at the camp and “taking feasible steps to minimise harm to civilians”.
A survivor of the attack described the attack as “the complete and real extermination of a residential square”. Abu al-Eis added: “There are a lot of families who used to live here in the residential block and there are displaced people from other areas, yet this place witnessed what humans could not bear and we continue to search under the rubble with our hands as there is no equipment.”

He explained: “They lived on the third floor of one of the buildings. The wall collapsed on them. My grandchildren, my daughter, her husband – all gone. We are all targeted. Civilians are targeted. There is no safe place. They told us to leave Gaza City. Now we came to central Gaza to die.”
Dozens of the injured were rushed to Al-Aqsa Hospital, with footage showing children’s faces covered in blood and body bags up piled outside.

Hamas spokesman Dr Ashraf Al-Qidra said: “What is happening at the Maghazi camp is a massacre on a crowded residential square.”
Two other air strikes meant 106 people were killed in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll in Gaza since the war started to more than 20,400.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen is set to reject the residence permit application of two UN staff members. He said: “The conduct of the UN since the seventh of October is a disgrace to the organisation and the international community.”
The UN has yet to respond to the move, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will be “expanding the fight in the coming days”.
