Carol Vorderman says 'excuse the state of me' as she wows in robe for Christmas
Carol Vorderman explained why she was in such a 'state' on Christmas morning - and it may have something to do with her birthday celebrations the night before!
The TV favourite had fans flustered as she dressed down in nothing but a fluffy robe and after turning 63 yesterday, she's got plenty of unwrapping to do. Taking to her Instagram Stories early on today, she blamed her daughter for her not looking her best as she looks forward to another family day.
She wrapped herself in a white towelling robe and gave her own little festive message. She explained during a short video: “Hello lovelies, you superstars – happy Christmas to you from me and thank you for all of your wonderful birthday messages yesterday.

She asked fans to 'excuse the state of her' this morning (Instagram)“Excuse the state of me; I’ve been bunking up with my daughter. We’re having a big family Christmas. Bunking up with my daughter for the last few nights and she is a squiggler. That’s why I look so tired. As the girls will know I’ve still got last night’s make-up on. Ah, who cares? It’s Christmas!” She then went on: “Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic day, and sending love! And thanks for everything that you do, really. Lots of love.”
She spoke before about what it's like to have a birthday when most people are purely focused on last-minute present buying and pre-stuffing the turkey. "I know from experience there'll be very few cards, no cake and only a handful of presents," she said two years ago.

"But I'm not looking for sympathy - far from it. I love having my birthday at this time of year when the celebrations go on for days and days, and everyone's in holiday mood. Secretly, I think I'm really lucky. People always suggest celebrating our birthdays halfway through the year, on June 24 and never do. They never send us a birthday card, but simply scrawl a message in the Christmas card - if they even remember."
It comes after Carol confessed during her stint on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! that she prefers to dump her boyfriends during the festive period and prefers “a few occasionals” in the bedroom. She explained to Scarlett Moffatt and Sam Quek: “One of my boyfriends, I’d gone off him a bit, and I decided to dump him before Christmas. They always get dumped before Christmas, by the way.
“Christmas time is party time, I don’t think I should say any more. Anyway the boyfriend said he was going to leave my Christmas present anyway. In the box was two tickets for a weekend on the Orient Express which I’d never done but I’d like to. I know who I would like to take, someone who is very nice for a few little days here and there.
"Generally I’m a rubbish girlfriend because I’m too independent and not romantic. It is because if you are a bloke they tend to be high maintenance and they like a lot of attention and I don’t have the time for it so I prefer to have a few… a few occasionals suits me fine.”
