Bobbie Jean has died at the age of 41.

Jane Carter, the mother of Nick, Aaron, Leslie, Angel, and Bobbie Jean Carter, told TMZ: "I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time. When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private."

"[H]owever deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater. So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight year old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother."

Bobbie reportedly died Saturday morning in Florida, but more details, including her cause of death, are still unknown. In life, while her brothers took lead in the musical world, she stayed involved in the enterprise in her own way. While Aaron's career was reaching its heights, she served as his wardrobe stylist.

While her life was put on public spectacle when she appeared on their reality show House of Carters, she took a step out of the limelight in more recent years. While on television, she struggled with substance abuse and this extended into her adult life. Additionally, she has since had multiple run-ins with the law.

In Nov. 2022, Aaron died and was found in a bathtub. It was later ruled that his death was the result of drowning and that drug use was involved, but it was also deemed accidental. Like Bobbie Jean, Aaron struggled with addiction throughout the course of his life. Similarly, the oldest sister of the family, Leslie, passed away in 2012 as the result of an overdose.

Of The House of Carter siblings, only Nick and Angel are still alive. Nick is still an active member of American boyband Backstreet Boys. Angel, the twin of Aaron, is a mother and advocates for mental health as she honours her brother's life.

Alongside AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, and Kevin Richardson, Nick launched the pop sensation boyband on April 20, 1993. As the youngest member of the band, he pursed schooling and tutoring while on tour before getting his GED later.

When the time came, though, Nick did breakout into solo work, too. In 2002, he released his first solo album Now or Never which sold 500,000 copies in its first week. He continued writing, recording, and touring solo, but never reached the same success that he saw with Backstreet Boys. The band did reunite, including a stint doing a combo band with New Kids on the Block called NKOTBSB.

Aaron was briefly in a band, but separated from them after his bandmates wanted to go in a more alternative direction. His solo career took off after opening for the Backstreet Boys.
