Meghan Markle could land leading role in movie that has link to Princess Diana

Meghan Markle could potentially land a leading role in a hit movie, with the Duchess of Sussex tipped to return to acting at some point in the future.

The Duchess of Sussex shot to fame as an actress before she married into the British Royal Family in 2018. Meghan portrayed Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama Suits for seven seasons from 2011 until 2018.

And now, following the Duchess and her husband stepping down as senior working members of the Royal Family back in 2020, it is thought that Meghan could renter the world of stardom by returning to her roots of acting.

When Meghan married Harry she confirmed she was retiring from acting. At the time she said she was quitting acting so that she could focus on her new duties as a working member of the Royal Family.

But since moving to the States, and especially this year, it seems that the Sussexes are slowly easing themselves back into the public eye, with Meghan dipping her toes into the world of entertainment more and more.

Reports coming out of Australia have now claimed that Meghan could potentially land a huge role in a sequel to Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston's box office smash hit, The Bodyguard.

Kevin, who was in the original movie, is believed to have pitched the follow-up to the 1992 classic, with him previously confirming that the late Princess of Wales, Princess Diana, was meant to star alongside him in it.

An insider has now told New Idea magazine: "The only thing Kevin loves more than an underdog like Meghan is a box office hit," according to the Daily Express.

When Kevin revealed that Princess Diana was supposed to star in The Bodyguard 2, he told PeopleTV that he, Diana, and the producers were eager to get the project in the works.

"The studio liked the idea of doing a Bodyguard 2,” he said, with Diana taking on a role "in the same kind of capacity as Whitney. Nobody really knew that for about a year."

Kevin, who produced and starred in The Bodyguard - is a pal of the Sussexes, with Harry and Meghan even in attendance at one of his charity events earlier this year.

The Sussexes mingled with Kevin and reunited with Oprah Winfrey at a charity event that was hosted by the famed actor. The One805 Live! charity event for first responders took place back in September, with the event held at Kevin's $26 million polo field in Santa Barbara.
