Strictly's Bobby Brazier propels family into spotlight as they land reality show

TV fans will soon be unable to avoid the Brazier family as dad Jeff and his son Freddie have landed a spot on a hit show.

The 44-year-old former Shipwrecked contestant is the father of 19-year-old son Freddie and recent Strictly Come Dancing finalist Bobby, 20. Over the past three months, Bobby’s star power has hit the stratosphere as he was a contestant on the BBC ’s long-running dance show - but his dad and brother also saw their profile rise too.

Jeff first found fame on Channel 4’s Shipwrecked in 2001, and then drew attention for his romance with Jade Goody - who died in 2009 aged 27 and with him Jeff fathered his sons. But he was a regular audience member during Strictly and was often seen crying with joy as he watched Bobby on the dance floor and with Freddie at his side.

Now Jeff and Freddie have been offered more time in the spotlight - as they will be contestants in the 2024 season of Celebrity Race Around the World on BBC One. The pair will join other celebrities as they try to make their way from one point of the world to another with minimal resources.

Their involvement on the show will mean they join Bobby on the Beeb as he is a cast member on EastEnders. A source told The Sun: “Being in the audience almost every week on Strictly has certainly helped to raise the profile of Jeff.

“Bobby’s done wonders for the Brazier name and it seems producers want to get in on the action as soon as possible. “It’s a bit of a coup to have got on Celebrity Race Against the World, as it turned out to be one of 2023’s biggest telly hits.”

While Bobby didn’t win Strictly, reports have suggested the young actor could be the highest earner of the 2023 season as viewers fell in love with him. A PR expert has predicted that Bobby could land roles in Hollywood after making it to the final of the dance show.

He could land an estimated £2.6 million contract for his acting work - according to the PR expert. Carla Speight said: “Strictly will show the US how versatile he is and no doubt make him even more appealing, he could be the star of the next hit drama to come from across the pond.

“He’s likely to find himself with a ‘golden handcuffs’ style contract, after a short bidding war between the channels. Sarah Lancashire reportedly earned £1.3million from her deal, making her the highest-paid TV actress in 2000. Bobby will easily double that with the right channel and the right jobs.”

Bobby competed on Strictly alongside professional dancer Dianne Buswell. After landing as a runner up on the show, Bobby admitted he would miss spending every day training with the 34-year-old Aussie.

He said during an appearance on ITV ’s Loose Women the week after the final: “I feel a bit lost! I miss Dianne. I am eating icing for breakfast, I don't know what to do!”
