Kane details 'tough' start to life in Germany despite fine Bayern Munich form

Harry Kane has admitted that he's struggled after being forced to live apart from his family after moving to Germany to join Bayern Munich in the summer.

The England captain, 30, has been in sizzling form for the reigning Bundesliga champions since leaving Tottenham in a £100million deal, plundering 25 goals in just 22 games for his new club. He's scored 21 times in the league already this term and signed off for the Christmas break with a goal in Bayern's 2-1 win over Wolfsburg on Wednesday.

Kane, who will have Christmas off for the first time as a result of the Bundesliga's three-week winter break, had been living in a hotel prior to finding a house recently. And after spending months away from his wife, Kate, and their four children, he's looking forward to reuniting with them during the festive period.

When he was asked about having Christmas off, Kane replied: "I'm really looking forward to it. It's been tough here without the family for these four months, without the kids and without the wife. It's just about spending some time with them, some quality time. When we get back everyone will move to Germany, which will be nice as well."

He then revealed he was planning to make the most of his time off with a post-Christmas holiday, adding: "We're going somewhere hot, so we'll spend 10 days and just enjoy that time. I'm going to text all my mates in England a picture of me on the beach somewhere."

Although Kane has struggled off the pitch during his time in Germany, it doesn't appear to have had a negative effect on his game given he's the Bundesliga's current top scorer.

His imperious form has kept Bayern Munich in and around the summit, too, although it is the undefeated Bayer Leverkusen who head into the New Year at the top of the pile.

Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for his side after they recovered from a poor start against Wolfsburg to keep up the pressure on Leverkusen heading into the winter break.

Tuchel said post-match: "We didn't have a good start, we gave the ball away a lot in the first 10 minutes - then things got better from there. We took the game to their half, had a lot of the ball and played a good game against a deep defence. We were disciplined, kept going and waited for our moments to come."
