Liverpool will play Fulham in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup with Middlesbrough taking on Chelsea in the other tie.

The first leg of the semi-final ties will be played on the week commencing January 8, with the second leg fixtures taking place on the week commencing January 22.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds booked their place in the last four with a convincing 5-1 win over West Ham on Wednesday night, with Dominik Szoboszlai firing home from range before Curtis Jones (2), Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah wrapped up the victory after the break, with Jarrod Bowen netting a consolation.

Chelsea had to come from behind to beat Newcastle in their quarter-final on Tuesday after Callum Wilson fired the Magpies in front on the quarter of an hour mark. But the Blues hit back with Mykhaylo Mudryk capitalising on a Kieran Tripper mistake to equalise.

The game went to penalties, with Mauricio Pochettino's men coming out on top 4-2 in the shoot-out. Chelsea's south-west London rivals Fulham also needed penalties to beat Everton in the last eight.

The Whites took the lead at Goodison Park via a Michael Keane own goal before Beto's equaliser took the game to penalties. Tosin Adarabioyo netted the winner for Marco Silva's men with the final spot-kick.

Middlesbrough - the only Championship outfit still in the competition - booked their place in the semis with a convincing 3-0 win over Port Vale on Tuesday, with Jonny Howson, Morgan Rogers and Matt Crooks all on target.
